We’re so grateful to all the families who braved the cold to celebrate Halloween with us. Thanks to Officer Gene for coming in to help and the Gallup Police Recruits Dawes, Becenti and Gonzales for thier work putting together our zombie apocalypse themed booth.

Let the Halloween Trunk or Treating begin! Huge thanks to the Gallup Municipal Court for including us in such a well-attended event. Our police recruits had a blast showing off our Zombie Apocalypse Resident Evil themed trunk, and a big shoutout to our UNM Gallup interns for joining in on the fun! 🎃🧟‍♂️🚓 See you all tomorrow at the Lions Club event at 5pm!

On October 22nd, 2026, the Gallup Police Department was honored to join the Zuni Community Center for a domestic violence awareness event hosted by the Zuni New Beginning Program. Sergeant Nicola Martinez-Collins shared a powerful presentation on how law enforcement is working to break the cycle of violence within our community. 🚔💜

Our recruits have officially entered their second week of the internal department academy. Each morning, the team focuses on physical fitness training followed by a full day of coursework as they prepare for the academy entrance exam in December.

The Gallup Police Department is monitoring social media reports concerning threats directed at high schools in various New Mexico cities, including Albuquerque and Farmington. We would like to assure our community that our officers are actively observing the situation and maintaining routine patrols at our schools. School administrators have been informed and are implementing precautionary measures to prioritize the safety of our children and the broader community. Law enforcement agencies throughout the state are treating these threats with the utmost seriousness and will continue to conduct thorough investigations into the matter.

The Gallup Police SWAT team training session for the day involved our UNM Gallup intern and police recruits, who practiced stairwell clearing, ladder operations, and a one-mile aid and litter carry. We extend our gratitude to the men and women dedicated to this auxiliary role and appreciate the families who support them.

The Gallup Police Department has received reports from several citizens concerning individuals with foreign accents attempting to solicit banking and personal identification information. We would like to raise awareness that such criminal activity typically increases during the holiday season. Please exercise caution, refrain from sharing personal information with unknown individuals, and remember that offers which seem too good to be true are likely fraudulent.
