With many of our lifeguards returning to high school and college, the Gora Aquatic Center has transitioned to fall swim hours. Thank you to our lifeguard team for all their hard work throughout the summer. We wish our student lifeguards a great school year!

Please take note of our updated hours below:

August 8 – September 6
Monday – Friday: 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM
Saturday & Sunday: 2:00 PM – 7:00 PM

The City of Galt would like to notify residents that construction for the Carillion Boulevard Safety Improvements Project will begin on Monday, August 24, 2026.

We recognize that the school year has begun and that traffic is especially busy during school drop-off and pick-up times. The City and its contractor will make every effort to minimize traffic impacts while work is underway.

About the Project
The project will improve safety and accessibility along Carillion Boulevard from Simmerhorn Road to Twin Cities Road for motorists, pedestrians, and bicyclists.

Planned improvements include:
➡ Pedestrian-activated flashing beacons and more visible crosswalks
➡ Safer pedestrian crossing areas and places to safely wait when crossing the street
➡ Green pavement markings to make bike lanes more visible
➡ New and upgraded ADA-accessible curb ramps
➡ Speed feedback signs that show drivers how fast they are traveling
➡ Rumble strips to alert drivers when they drift out of their lane
➡ Reflective pavement markings to improve visibility at night
➡ Road repairs and new pavement

🚧 What to Expect Beginning August 24
The first phase of work will focus on upgrading existing pedestrian curb ramps to meet current Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) accessibility standards.
Work will begin at the Carillion Boulevard and Chelsam Avenue intersection. Crews will then return to the Vauxhall Avenue area and continue north toward Twin Cities Road.

Residents and motorists can expect temporary traffic control, intermittent lane closures, and pedestrian detours in active work areas.

We appreciate the community’s patience and cooperation throughout the project.

Requests for city-owned lights will be forwarded to our streetlight maintenance contractor, while requests for SMUD-owned lights will be sent to SMUD. Please note that response times can vary, so it may take a few days – your patience and assistance in helping the city are greatly appreciated!

Residents will maintain 24-hour access. Local traffic only. Detours will be in place during the closures.
