My Eco Thoughts:
The reason I post this is because I wanted to find out what happened to the Medellin’s. It was mismanagement of resources during an economic down fall caused by a civil war. In America and all over the world we have landfills yet we have the resources to manage our waste properly. We currently as a society operate on a linear level and take this for granted. This example shows that no matter what the community looks like before it can be transformed and made into a better place to live. Don’t feed into the burden of potential but realize things don’t have to be the way they’re. If you put enough thought into it, and feed into your purpose you can overcome any obstacle if you take the necessary steps and connect with others. Your goals should bring value to others. This will bring understanding to your vision.

A literal mountain of garbage that was declared a public disaster is now a community garden blossoming with life! 17,000 people lived here in Medellín's Moravia neighborhood as it grew into a massive garbage dump between 1977 and 1984. The trash quickly piled up as the population increased, a result of Colombia's civil war that forced many to flee their homes and build makeshift housing here. Fast forward to today, and the area has been completely transformed into the largest garden in Medellín with more than 50,000 plants! 70% of the dump has been converted so far thanks to a series of gardening projects employing residents. This is how you lift up the community and help the environment at the same time!
