Galveston Firefighters

We had a great turnout for our first annual Firefighter Ball, celebrating the Galveston Fire Department’s 141st birthday! 🚒🔥

A huge thank you to Metro Fire Apparatus and Coastal Community Federal Credit Union for sponsoring the event and helping make the night possible. Your continued support of our firefighters and our organization is greatly appreciated.

Thank you to everyone who came out and celebrated 141 years of service, tradition, and brotherhood with us. Here’s to making this the first of many!

Stronger Together.
Past | Present | Always.

GFD has maintained crews deployed across Texas since the beginning of August, rotating personnel through crew swaps as part of the Texas Intrastate Fire Mutual Aid System (TIFMAS).

Currently, two GFD crews are on the ground helping battle wildfires alongside departments from across the state. When Texas communities need help, TIFMAS mobilizes trained crews and equipment — and GFD is proud to keep answering that call.

Statewide Fire Update:

The Hydra Fire in Bosque County has threatened structures and prompted evacuations in Central Texas. Gov. Abbott announced that FEMA has approved a Fire Management Assistance Grant to help fight it — Texas is providing all necessary resources to protect Texans, including 240+ state responders and 130+ fire trucks and equipment. The Governor has also issued a Wildfire Disaster Declaration.
The Ross Fire in Palo Pinto and Jack counties — one of the largest wildfires in Texas this summer at over 90,000 acres — has now been fully contained after burning for more than three weeks, thanks to the tireless work of hundreds of firefighters and support crews statewide.

Please keep our deployed crews and all Texas firefighters in your thoughts and prayers as they continue this work. We'll share updates as rotations continue.

Our hearts are with the Porter Fire Department as they mourn the loss of Captain Jesus Castillo.

We extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends, crew, and all those who had the privilege of serving alongside him.

Captain Castillo’s service and dedication to his community will not be forgotten.

Rest easy, Captain.
