Today, we recognized BM1 Gene Harney for his hard work and dedication to cutter HATCHET. BM1 has served as our Operations Petty Officer for 2.5 years, planning all of the logistics for our underway sorties. Furthermore, BM1 was the host to several moral events and will always be the heart and soul of HATCHET’s crew.

In addition, we held a Cutterman ceremony onboard where BM1 Harney and BM1 Iain Langborgh received their Permanent Cutterman Insignia’s. Both BM1’s received this insignia by completing five years of cumulative sea time spanning several different cutters.

SN Noah King recently completed his Construction Deck Rigger qualification! He was presented his Blue Hard Hat at Houston Ship Channel Light 128 during HATCHET’s recent trip to Houston.

HATCHET worked side by side our sister ship, CGC CLAMP. It was truly a team effort to repair all of the discrepancies that involved some friendly competition between our hard working crews.

HATCHET’s latest trip was rebuilding Upper Peggy’s Lake Outbound Front Range Light. Building range structures are some of the hardest, but most rewarding projects we conduct. Through our excellent teamwork the crew accomplished the task and had a great time in the process!

Congratulations to BM3 Richard “Ricky” Legere who was recognized during a visit by Admiral Linda Fagan, Commandant of the U.S. Coast Guard and Master Chief Petty of the Coast Guard, MCPO Heath Jones. BM3 has been vital to HATCHET during his entire tour as the 1LT. Recently he has led the deck force in restoring the cutter back to life after HATCHET’s five and half month dry dock availability in Houma, LA.

BZ Petty Officer Legere!
