Commitment #5

5. Improve the working relationship and operational inefficiencies
between the city, port, park board and the navigation district. Currently each of these entities is structured independent from each other and often operates in a vacuum. Each performs many of the same functions – human resources, procurement, facility management, risk management, fleet management and others. A coordinated effort will yield tremendous savings and more focus on each entities core mission.

I ask for your vote today and together we will ensure a bright and optimistic future for our Island home. —Thanks, Jim

Commitment #4:

4. Develop and implement park improvements at Lindale, North Broadway, 53rd and Avenue S, Sandhill Crane soccer complex and at the airport. The goal of this effort is to improve the quality of life for our residents and their families, attract additional families to move to Galveston and to improve and expand the Island’s sports tourism market.

Together we will ensure a bright and optimistic future for our Island home. —Jim

Commitment #3:

3. Work to develop a master plan and future for the Port of Galveston. Our goal is to maximize the economic development opportunities with higher tax base and better paying jobs. Part of the master plan will determine funding strategies for needed capital improvements. Developing the port’s Pelican Island property will reduce the stress on the Galveston side, especially the eastern end of the port near downtown, East End Historic District and UTMB. Progress is underway and we need consistent and steady leadership. I ask for your vote today! —Jim
