There are moments when a community comes together and reminds us just how much we care for one another. Saturday was one of those moments.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone who attended, donated, volunteered, performed, purchased food, participated in the silent auction, or simply stopped by to offer a hug, a kind word, or support for Callie and the Wells family.

Because of your incredible generosity, we are humbled to share that the fundraiser raised $28,206.53.

Billy Wells was more than the guy at Redway Tire who could get you back on the road. He was a friend, a familiar face, and someone who made people feel welcome. The love shown on Saturday reflected the countless lives he touched over the years.

The sight of friends, neighbors, coworkers, customers, and family gathering together in Billy's honor was truly moving. The music, the laughter, the stories, the shared tears, and the candlelight vigil all served as a beautiful reminder that no family has to face loss alone in this community.

To everyone who donated items, cooked food, set up tables, worked long hours behind the scenes, provided entertainment, and helped make this day possible—thank you. Your kindness made a difference.

Most of all, thank you for wrapping your arms around Callie and the Wells family during such a difficult time. The love and support shown by this community will not soon be forgotten.

Billy's legacy lives on in the friendships he built, the lives he touched, and the community that came together in his memory.

❤️ With gratitude,
Friends of Garberville Fire Protection District

The Friends of Garberville Fire District will host a community fundraiser on Saturday, June 6, at the Redway Tire parking lot to support Callie Wells and her family following the passing of Bill “Billy” Wells Jr.

Billy was a familiar face to generations of Southern Humboldt residents through his longtime work at Redway Tire. Many knew Billy as the person who could get tires changed quickly while treating every customer like a friend.

The fundraiser barbecue will bring together friends, family, customers, and community members to honor Billy’s memory and support Callie and the Wells family during this difficult time.

Event Details:
• Live Music: 11:00 a.m. until evening
• BBQ Fundraiser: Noon to 5:00 p.m.
• Candlelight Vigil: Begins at dusk
• Silent Auction, Burgers, Barbecue Pork Ribs, and more food available for purchase

Those interested in volunteering or making a donation for the event are encouraged to contact Shawn Masterson at (707) 223-2100.

Hosted by Friends of Garberville Fire Protection District.

Shared from Redway Fire

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bill (Billy) Wells Jr. Billy was a greatly loved son, husband, father, brother, uncle, brother-in-law, and member of the Redway community. Billy’s warm welcoming smile and bright eyes at the family business, Redway Tire, always seemed to make your problems seem like no big deal. His wife Callie and sons Carson and Randy will need our help and support during this trying time.

If you are able to help out, an account has been set up at Community First Credit Union in Garberville, Account # 0090120337 under the name Callie (Davis). If you are unable to help at this time, please share this post so that the word gets out.

More updates on everything will be shared in the future. Thank you.
