On National Vietnam War Veterans Day, we honor the legacy of the millions who served our nation during the Vietnam War. On March 29, 1973, the last American combat troops left Vietnam. More than three million Americans served in-country during the war and 58,281 men and women made the ultimate sacrifice. We continue to lose Vietnam veterans every day as a result of the war’s lingering effects.
Many Vietnam veterans returned home to a divided country and, at times, little to no respect for their service. Today, we honor all they gave for their country. Together, we will continue to show our gratitude for our Vietnam veterans and work to ensure their service and sacrifices are never forgotten.
To our Vietnam veterans, “Thank you for your service and Welcome Home"

New Hyde Park Cub Scout BSA Pack 544 held their annual Pinewood Derby on March 14th at the Notre Dame School Gymnasium.
The guest judges were from VFW Post 120, Garden City Park.

Boys Scout troop 71 of Manhasset hosted North Hempstead's veterans committee last night for a introduction, then questions and answers session. Its was honor and humbling evening to talk to these young men about the military and our experience's. (Re-elect Supervisor Jennifer DeSena, Patrick O'Brien from the American legion of Manhasset, Richard Demartino, Manny Martin, Emil Makish, Larry Brady and Peter Gong from VFW 120.)

On Dec 18 members of the North Hempstead Veterans Advisory Committee distributed the collected gift cards and hand made blankets to three long island Veterans organizations. This years collected total was $15,900.

Members of the North Hempstead Veterans Advisory Committee recently met at town hall to accept a $5,000 donation from the Peter & Jeri Dejana Foundation for our Veterans gift card campaign.

In support of our local food drive Ryan McGowan from Geico New Hyde Park made a donation of $1,000 to Ralph Esposito, Director of the Nassau County Veterans Service Agency to purchase food needed for their pantry.

Members of the North Hempstead Veterans Committee and Town Supervisor Jen DeSena met with Ryan McGowan from Geico to accept a donation of $1,000 in gift cards. The cards will go the Nassau County Veterans Service Agency, VA Northport and The L.I. State Veterans Home in Stony Brook.
