Mark Jacobs for Mayor

Mark Jacobs for Mayor This page is to build community in Garden City by using open communication with the Mayor.

I would like to start off by saying what an incredible honor and privilege it has been to serve as your Mayor since 2022.
When I ran 3 years ago, I ran on 3 major concerns.
First I wanted to open the lines of communication to all the cities groups, businesses and residents. I have reached out to all and let them know they have a voice.
I also wanted to review and simplify ordinances to make things easier for homeowners and businesses to move in / open sooner. I think we have gotten better and are still moving forward for anyone involved in the processes.
My 3rd goal was to promote economic development and to bring businesses back into Garden City. I also wanted to hire an Economic Developer. As you drive around the city, you cannot help but notice all the new and remodeled businesses everywhere. Ford Rd., Middlebelt, Inkster Rds, construction happening everywhere.
After much discussion and debate, we have hired a Community Development Director, and he has been outstanding.
It has not all been easy, but when it's beneficial and worthwhile to the community, it is definately worth the effort.
I am extremely proud of everything that has been acclomplished so far.
I have tried to be as open and transparent as possible, to also maintain my integrity. I have been honest with everyone and have no personel agendas.
Having said all of this, I have thought long and hard. I have had many conversations with family and friends. I've talked to many residents.
With all this being said, I have come to the conclusion, that with your continued support,
I WILL SEEK REELECTION as your Mayor in 2026.
I truly believe we are moving in the right direction and would love the opprotunity to continue helping move the city forward.
Together we can continue to make Garden City a great place to call home.
Thank you and God bless.

Over the past few months, Mayor Mark Jacobs has personally visited and presented certificates to businesses that have proudly served Garden City for more than 30 years. This milestone is a remarkable achievement and a testament to the dedication, resilience, and commitment these businesses have shown to our community.

Mayor Jacobs believes it is important to recognize these businesses not only for their longevity, but also for the countless ways they have contributed to the fabric of Garden City over the decades. From creating jobs and supporting families to enriching the local economy and being part of our cityโ€™s history, these businesses embody the spirit of Garden City.

Follow the City of Garden City on Facebook to stay tuned over the next few months, where we will be posting updates highlighting the businesses that have joined the 30+ Club.

Here are some pictures of the truck that was loaded up with supplies for North Carolina. This was a 26โ€™ enclosed truck that was filled from front to back and top to bottom. Huge THANK YOUS to Garden City Cafe for collecting and storing the supplies; to UAW Local 900 & Map for their huge donation; the American Legion Post 396 for the 150 backpacks loaded with supplies; all the volunteers, Tony Grabanica, Blerina Grabanica, Genta and all the staff at the Cafe; special thanks to Clay Shattleroe who drove the truck with me to North Carolina; Jessica and Katie who run the non-profit where we dropped supplies off, the reserves who helped us unload the truck; and last but not least, Teresa Ann Jacobs and Tony who both made this possible!! If I missed anyone, please know your help was greatly appreciated. Thank you to all who donated, please know everything was needed, given out and greatly appreciated. The pictures do not do justice to the devastation that happened there, the media has done a terrible job of accurate reporting. It will be many, many years of rebuilding and even then it will never be the same! There have been roads and homes just washed away! A whole city, GONE!! Again, a great big THANK YOU to everyone. Please keep these people in your thoughts and prayers!!
