This is a continuation of the scam currently going around in our area.

If you receive a phone call from someone claiming that you have a warrant or that you need to pay money to avoid arrest, please be advised:

⚠️ THIS IS A SCAM! ⚠️

DO NOT PAY ANYTHING TO ANYONE.
DO NOT give out your banking, credit card, or personal information.

If you receive one of these calls, please hang up and notify the Sheriff’s Office immediately.

🚫 NEVER send money, gift cards, or electronic payments to someone claiming you must pay a warrant over the phone.

Please help us protect our community by sharing this warning with your family and friends, especially those who may be more vulnerable to these types of scams.

Stay alert. Don’t pay. Report the call.

If you receive any paperwork that looks similar to this please don't respond to it

The Glasscock County Sheriff’s Office has been alerted to a scam involving a gentleman calling residents and claiming his name is “Matt” and that he is with the Glasscock County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO).

The caller may tell you that you missed jury duty, that there is a warrant for your arrest, or that you must pay a fine to avoid further action.

⚠️ THIS IS A SCAM.

The Glasscock County Sheriff’s Office will NEVER call you and demand payment for a warrant or missed jury duty.

DO NOT:

Give the caller personal or financial information.
Send money, gift cards, or electronic payments.
Follow payment instructions given over the phone.

If you receive a suspicious call claiming to be from the Glasscock County Sheriff’s Office, hang up and contact the Sheriff’s Office directly.

Please share this information with your family, friends, and especially elderly community members.

WE ARE HAVING INCOMING CALL ISSUES FROM CELL PHONE CALLS TO OUR LANDLINE COUNTY AND SHERIFF OFFICE PHONES OUR OFFICE IS AWARE OF THE OUTAGE AND WESTEX, HAS BEEN NOTIFIED AND ARE CURRENTLY WORKING TO FIX THE ISSUE.
