Garden City Public School teachers reported to work today. The day started with an assembly where Dr. John Hodge spoke as the keynote speaker. Dr. Hodge is a nationally recognized K-12 author and respected educator from the East Coast who specializes in student engagement, particularly with students who may be at risk of falling behind.

As part of our long-standing tradition, we will also recognized and celebrate staff members for their Years of Service and introduce our newest members of the GCPS team.

We're all looking forward to a great year!

Help kick off the new school year with Bounce Back- Return to Learn coming up this Thursday, September 3 from 4-7pm at Memorial 1-2 Campus.

Great activities for kids of all ages. Great food, a petting zoo, bounce houses, face painting, the GC Police and Fire Department, music and more.

September 7: 5th Annual Campus Clean Up starts at 9 am. See info below

September 8: First day of school (1/2 day!!)

September 9: Full day of school at GCHS

September 10: Picture Day/ID Day/Chromebook Day during the school day

Chromebooks will be distributed at school throughout the day.***
September 15: Open House 6 - 7:30 pm

Varsity Football opened their season last Thursday with a tough loss at home. It was also the first opportunity to perform for the Marching Band, Pom Squad and Cheer Team.

The Cougars will be at it again on Thursday (September 3) at home vs Melvindale.

ID pick-ups for all four elementary schools are this today and Friday at your child's building. The seventh and eighth grade schedule and ID pick up is Monday, August 31 at the Middle School. It's almost time!

The Garden City Elementary PTA held "Tie Dye on the Playground" Tuesday at Memorial. Youngsters showed their school spirit by turning their shirts orange and blue, enjoyed popsicles and hung out on the playground as the first day of school approaches. The turn out was great and the PTA did a fantastic job putting on this fun event.
