UPDATE: K23 Highway is now shutdown from K156 Hwy up to Lane County.
We have several emergency units in the northeast area of Finney County. They are having very limited visibility. Several roads are impassable due to fire and also power lines down. They may need to shut down Highway 23 north of 156 Highway. Please avoid travel if you can.
UPDATE (7:40 P.M.): The fire is 0% contained and approximately 10-11 miles long. No loss of homes or injuries have been reported at this time. The fire is expected to burn through the night, and crews will remain on scene and monitor the progression of the fire. Local and state resources are assisting the Garden City Fire Department, and aerial assets provided by the state will be headed to the scene Wednesday morning to assist with the containment. We will provide updates as available and greatly appreciate our neighboring agencies for their outstanding support and assistance.
UPDATE (5:40 P.M.): Due to heavy smoke and zero visibility conditions from the fire, K-23 from Dighton (Lane County) to K-156 is closed in both directions. Multiple agencies are working to fight and contain the fire. Further updates will be provided when available.
ALERT - ACTIVE GRASS FIRE (2/17/26, 4:25 P.M.)
The Garden City Fire Department and multiple agencies are currently on scene of an active grass fire at 13890 Mennonite Road, Garfield Township. Due to heavy smoke and zero visibility from the fire, the public is asked to avoid the area until further notice. We will provide updates as available and once the fire has been contained.

ACTUALIZACIÓN (7:40 P.M.): El incendio está contenido en un 0% y tiene una extensión de aproximadamente 10 a 11 millas. No se han reportado pérdidas de viviendas ni heridos hasta el momento. ALERTA - INCENDIO DE PASTO ACTIVO (17/2/26, 16:25)
El Departamento de Bomberos de Garden City y varias agencias se encuentran actualmente en el lugar de un incendio de pasto activo en 13890 Mennonite Road, municipio de Garfield.
