π¨ An Extreme Heat Warning is in effect for our area this week. Please take a few minutes to help keep your pets safe.
Heatstroke can develop quickly, especially in flat-faced breeds like Bulldogs, French Bulldogs, Pugs, Persian cats, and Himalayan cat, but any pet can be affected. The hottest part of the week is expected to be Wednesday, with inland temperatures climbing into the 90s.
A few simple precautions can save a life:
πΎ Avoid hot pavement
π§ Provide plenty of fresh, cool water
π³ Keep pets in the shade or indoors with air conditioning
π Never leave a pet in a parked vehicle, even for a minute
If your pet is showing signs of heatstroke, such as excessive panting, weakness, vomiting, collapse, or red gums, seek emergency veterinary care immediately. Heatstroke is a life-threatening emergency.
We'll be here if you need us.
