Earlier this week, CPP Executive Director Melissa Somers had the pleasure of attending and supporting the Orange County Auto Theft Advisory Committee (ATAC) Auto Theft Officer of the Year Awards Brunch at the Marconi Automotive Museum in Tustin.

Thank you to Marconi Automotive Museum for their hospitality and once again providing a venue to celebrate those addressing auto theft across Orange County. Keynote Speaker Orange County Sheriff Don Barnes highlighted the importance of continued efforts and celebrated this year’s honorees for their outstanding work.

Melissa, alongside Lieutenant Hope Maxon, Commander of OCATT and ATAC Committee Chair, presented a certificate on behalf of WSATI Southern Chapter to the top honoree for this October’s conference.

Last week CPP Executive Director Melissa Somers, had the honor of presenting the 30th annual John Hootman Memorial Award at the WSATI Southern Chapter training luncheon held at Classic Cars in Murrieta. The award, which celebrates officers who go above and beyond in the fight against construction crime, was presented to Micah Weilbacher with the VenCATT team. Congratulations Micah!

Hotline Reward Decals in Action!
A call to the CPP Reward Hotline led to the recovery of multiple stolen pieces of equipment in Chino, totaling over $1.1 million. Many of these items had been stolen in the Fall of 2025 with their tracking devices removed at the time they were stolen. Thanks to CPP's Hotline decals, the property owner was able to reach out and get help even after tracking devices had been removed.

A huge shout-out to for consistently placing the decals on their equipment. Their diligence made this recovery possible and shows just how effective these decals can be in protecting your assets.

Member Recovery!
A JCB 510 Telehandler that was reported stolen by Powell Constructors in August 2025 has now been recovered through a CPP Reward Hotline tip. The unit, originally taken near SR-2 and I-5 in Los Angeles, was part of a larger case that led to the return of multiple stolen pieces of equipment valued at over $1.1 million.

Last week, CPP received a call on our Reward Hotline which led to the recovery of multiple stolen pieces of equipment in Chino, with a total value of $1,129,000. The property owner contacted us after finding suspicious equipment left on his land and locating our Reward Hotline decal on one of the units. Once CPP confirmed the equipment was stolen, we reached out to our partners with the CHP Inland Division CTIP(Cargo Theft Interdiction Program) team, who responded and discovered several additional stolen units at the location.
