In an effort to maintain the beauty the City of Garden Ridge enjoys from our numerous oak trees and to prevent and combat the spreading of destructive oak wilt, City Ordinance No. 71 prohibits trimming of oaks trees between February 1st and July 1st of each year.

This is the time of year when oak wilt fungal mats are most likely to form and sap-feeding (nitidulid) beetles are active. For additional information and resources related to oak wilt, please visit: https://www.ci.garden-ridge.tx.us/332/Oak-Wilt

The Texas Water Development Board has officially approved the 2026 Regional Water Plans, marking the completion of the sixth regional planning cycle. 🎉

This collaborative process has resulted in greater public participation, education, and awareness, underscoring the benefits of directly involving local and regional decision makers and the public in shaping Texas’ water future.

The approved regional plans form the foundation for the 2027 State Water Plan and the basis for the 2026 SWIFT funding cycle.

For Friends who want to encourage the county to prioritize preserving land, water, and in turn, wildlife:

On October 23, 2025 the Comal County Commissioners will take a historic vote regarding the Texas Water Development Board's (TWDB) Clean Water SRF. If this vote passes, the county will submit its application to the TWDB for $30,000,000.00 of state funding to preserve critical lands over the recharge zones of the Edwards and Trinity Aquifers. It is hard to put into words just how significant this step is for our county and for our communities.

Write your commissioner and Judge Krause. Thank them for their commitment to preserving and protecting our county's water supplies and the rivers that make our county so unique. Encourage them to consider this funding opportunity and to support the conservation of our county's land, water, and wildlife.

Sherman Krause, County Judge

Doug Leecock, Commissioner Precinct 1

Scott Haag, Commissioner, Precinct 2

Kevin Webb, Commissioner Precinct 3

Jen Crownover, Commissioner, Precinct 4
