Cold temperatures can slow your Kombucha fermentation.

When your brewing space gets chilly, the yeast and bacteria may slow down, which can mean a slower ferment and a longer wait for the flavor you want. The key isn't simply chasing warmth, but keeping your brewing conditions steady and watching how your brew develops.

From temperature to fruit choices and carbonation, small changes can make a noticeable difference in your final cup.

A breathable cover is a small detail that makes a big difference in primary Kombucha fermentation.

Your brew needs protection from insects and debris while still allowing the culture access to air. That’s why a clean, tightly woven breathable cloth is preferred over an airtight lid during primary fermentation.

And remember: covering your brew and bottling it are two different steps with different needs.

How do you cover your brewing jar?

Why does Kombucha speed up in summer?

Your recipe may stay the same, but your environment changes.

Warmer temperatures can increase microbial activity and speed up fermentation. That can mean your Kombucha reaches your preferred flavor sooner than it does in cooler weather.

But faster is not always better. The goal is to understand how seasonal changes affect your brew and adjust with care.

Swipe through to learn what warmer weather can mean for your Kombucha and why every brew has its own timeline.
