Important Meetings

PROPOSED DATA CENTER PUBLIC MEETINGS!

Beale Infrastructure is hosting an in-person informational session on Wednesday, May 13, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Wheatridge Middle School to provide details about the proposed data center project. An additional virtual meeting will be held on Friday, May 15, at 10 a.m.

A recording will be posted on the developer's project webpage (bealeinfra.com/gardner-kansas) following the live stream for those unable to attend either session.

Councilwoman Kelly Johnson and I would love to hear your thoughts about data centers—what you like about them, what concerns you, or anything in between.

Thoughts from the City Council Meeting - April 20th
1) People can and should use their 1st Amendment rights. Even if you do not agree with them.

2) The issue of residents using their property for a short term rental. I believe that as long as those property owners follow the rules set forth in the conditional use permit, the city should not keep those property owners from using that property as they see fit. Whether it will be allowed by the HOA is a matter for the HOA.

3) The appointment of Deputy Chief Herron to replace Chief Waldeck. Where as this appointment and selection of the Police Chief did not follow the appointment of Chief Waldeck, I feel the process still allowed for the best outcome. DC Herron has been working on the job in Gardner for the past 13 months and has been interviewing for the role. I like the ability to promote from within and I trust the judgement of Chief Waldeck on selecting and hiring DC Herron. My interactions with with DC Herron have been positive and he has handled all of the issues brought forth by citizens during council meetings expeditiously and with the greatest professionalism.

Some thoughts on the Gardner State of the City.
1) Gardner has seen another year of growth and change. New business and developments.

2) We have a lot of road work coming up with continued work on the South Gardner exit and major work on roads across the city.

3) Gorney Park (formally Windwood Park) will be transformed into a great place to play and a real jewel on the Greenway.

4) The prospect of a Data Center in Gardner raises a lot of questions. We are going to have to be ready to do a lot of listening.

5) Gardner remains a great Community to live and work.
