❄️ Cold Weather Alert – Protect Your Pipes! 💧

With freezing temperatures expected in the coming days, we encourage all Water District patrons to take steps now to prevent frozen pipes.

To help safeguard your water service:
• Protect pipes in crawl spaces, unheated rooms, basements, garages, and exterior walls by wrapping them with insulation or towels to help prevent freezing.
• Disconnect hoses and shut off outdoor faucets
• Open cabinet doors under sinks to allow warm air to circulate
• Let faucets drip slightly to keep water moving
• Know where your main water shutoff valve is located
• Ensure water meter lids are properly secured

Frozen pipes can burst and cause costly damage. Taking a few simple precautions now can save time, money, and inconvenience later. If you experience a water emergency, please contact the Water District immediately.

Stay warm and stay safe! 💧❄️

One of Water District No. 7’s wholesale supply sources, Miami RWD No. 2, is performing its annual Free Chlorine Burnout starting October 1st to November 1st to help maintain good water quality. During this time, customers in the southern region of the District, south of Gardner/Spring Hill, may experience a stronger than usual taste and smell of chlorine in the water. This is harmless and the water remains safe to use for all purposes. Additional flushing operations by the District will be ongoing during this period. For any questions, please contact the District Office.

Some of our customers west of De Soto are currently experiencing low to no water pressure due to a water main break near 95th St and Sunflower Rd. Our team is actively working to resolve the issue, and operators have been dispatched to complete the repairs.

We’d also like to clarify that the City of De Soto is experiencing a separate water leak near this location and has issued a boil advisory for their customers. Our leak is unrelated to the one impacting the City of DeSoto, and no boil advisory has been issued for Water 7 customers at this time. We appreciate your patience as we work to restore service as quickly as possible. Thank you for your understanding!
