🚨 MISSING PERSON 🚨

The Gardner Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in locating 26-year-old Zoe Ardoin.

Zoe was last seen at approximately 11:00 p.m. on August 30, 2026, at her residence in the 900 block of Wildcat Run in Gardner. She was last seen wearing black leggings and a white hooded sweatshirt.

Zoe is approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighs 120 pounds, and has bright red hair.

Anyone with information regarding Zoe’s location is asked to contact local law enforcement or Gardner Police Detective Conrad at 913-884-8538.

This is another week of dangerously high temperatures. Remember to keep yourself, your loved ones, and your pets safe.

🌡️ Dangerous Heat Advisory This Week ☀️

Much of our area is under a Dangerous Heat Advisory for much of this week. Please take a few simple precautions to protect yourself, your family, and your pets.

💧 Drink plenty of water and avoid becoming dehydrated.
🏠 Stay in air-conditioned buildings whenever possible.
🐾 Never leave children or pets in a parked vehicle, even for a few minutes.
🐶 Make sure pets have plenty of fresh water and shade, and avoid walking them on hot pavement.
⏰ If you must be outside, try to do so early in the morning or later in the evening when temperatures are lower.
👀 Check on elderly neighbors, family members, and anyone who may be more vulnerable to extreme heat.

❄️ Need a place to cool off?
The Gardner Justice Center will serve as a cooling center during normal business hours. All Johnson County Library locations are also available as places to escape the heat.

Stay safe, Gardner, and help look out for one another during this stretch of dangerous temperatures.

To protect the integrity of an investigation, we generally do not release specific details while a case remains active unless there is a concern for public safety. We appreciate our community’s assistance with requests like these.

🐾 Happy National Dog Day! 🐾

Today, the Gardner Police Department is proud to recognize our current police K-9, Yukon, and retired police K-9, Zeus.

Yukon continues to serve our department and community as a loyal partner, while Zeus earned a well-deserved retirement after years of dedicated service. Both are valued members of the Gardner Police Department family and a reminder of the important role police K-9s play in keeping our community safe.

Please join us in celebrating Yukon, Zeus, and all the four-legged companions who bring loyalty, protection, and plenty of joy into our lives.

⚠️ E-MOTOS ARE NOT E-BICYCLES ⚠️

For an electric bike to fall under the rules of a bicycle, it must have fully operating pedals. If there are no pedals, or the pedals do not actually function, the device may be considered an e-moto and is not legal to operate on public roadways or sidewalks.

Parents, please talk with your kids. Know what they are riding and understand the rules before they head out.

When riding a legal e-bike or scooter:

✅ Wear a properly fitted helmet
✅ Follow traffic laws and posted signs
✅ Slow down around pedestrians
✅ Stay visible and use lights after dark
✅ Never carry more riders than the device allows
✅ Avoid distractions and reckless riding

Unsafe e-moto riding has become a dangerous problem across Johnson County, the Kansas City metro, and communities throughout the country.

A conversation today could prevent a serious injury tomorrow. Let’s work together to keep our kids safe.

Somehow ended up in the wrong drop-off line? ✔️
Stuck behind the 12-minute goodbye? BINGO. 😂

We know school drop-off can feel like an Olympic event some mornings. No matter how chaotic the morning gets, give yourself a little extra time and remember:

🚸 Slow down in school zones.
👀 Watch for kids, bikes, and crossing guards.
📵 Put the phone down.
🚌 Be prepared to stop for school buses.
❤️ And maybe show a little patience with the parent who is clearly having one of those mornings.
