๐Ÿšดโ€โ™‚๏ธ Happy World Bicycle Day! ๐Ÿšดโ€โ™€๏ธ

Today we're celebrating the bicycle and the many ways it helps connect people, promote healthy lifestyles, and strengthen communities.

Did you know the Gardner Police Department has a Bicycle Patrol Unit? This auxiliary assignment is staffed by specially trained officers who patrol on bicycles during warmer weather and at community events throughout the year.

Bicycle officers provide a unique way to engage with residents, patrol parks and trails, navigate crowded events, and maintain a visible presence in areas that may be difficult to access by vehicle. Most importantly, they help us build stronger connections with the community we serve.

If you see our bicycle officers out and about this summer, be sure to say hello!

๐Ÿšจ Outdoor Warning Siren Test Today ๐Ÿšจ

The monthly test of the outdoor warning sirens will be today at 11:00 a.m.

Outdoor warning sirens are tested on the first Wednesday of each month to help ensure the system is functioning properly and ready when needed. Tests may be canceled if severe weather is possible in the area.

Please note: There will be no outdoor warning siren test in July.

Remember, outdoor warning sirens are designed to alert people who are outdoors. Residents are encouraged to have multiple ways to receive weather warnings, including weather radios, smartphone alerts, local media, and trusted weather apps.

Stay weather aware and have a safe day!

๐ŸŒง๏ธ๐Ÿ’œ Thank You, Gardner! ๐Ÿ’œ๐ŸŒง๏ธ

A huge thank you to everyone who came out this weekend and weathered the storm to support the Move with MADD 5K. Despite the rain, our community showed up in a big way to raise awareness and funds for an important cause.

Your participation helps support the mission of Mothers Against Drunk Driving and their ongoing efforts to prevent impaired driving, support victims and survivors, and make our roads safer for everyone.

We are grateful to all of the runners, walkers, volunteers, sponsors, and supporters who made the event a success. Events like this remind us how strong and caring the Gardner community truly is.

Thank you for helping move us one step closer to a future with no more victims of impaired driving. ๐Ÿ’œ

๐Ÿพ CALMING TREATS FOR PETS RETURNING THIS YEAR ๐Ÿพ

The City of Gardner is proud to once again offer calming treats for pets ahead of the Independence Day holiday. Fireworks can be stressful for our furry family members, and we are happy to help provide this resource to Gardner residents.

๐Ÿšจ Identity theft can happen to anyone. A convincing scam call, fake email, stolen wallet, or compromised account can quickly turn into a stressful situation. If youโ€™ve been the victim of identity theft or fraud, donโ€™t wait to take action.

The City of Gardner Crime Victims Rights & Resources page contains helpful information and resources to help protect yourself and begin the recovery process.

A few important steps include:
โ€ข Contact your bank or credit card company immediately
โ€ข Place fraud alerts on your credit reports
โ€ข Change compromised passwords
โ€ข Report fraud through the FTC at IdentityTheft.gov

Scammers are getting more sophisticated every day. Stay cautious, protect your personal information, and remember, if something feels off, slow down and verify before responding.

โ˜€๏ธ May 27 is National Sunscreen Day! โ˜€๏ธ

The weather is warming up, pools are opening, and more people are spending time outside enjoying the sunshine. Whether youโ€™re heading to the pool, the lake, the ballfield, or just mowing the yard, remember to do it responsibly.

Gardner Police Department encourages everyone to practice sun safety:
๐Ÿงด Wear sunscreen and reapply often
๐Ÿ•ถ๏ธ Protect your eyes with sunglasses
๐Ÿ’ง Stay hydrated
๐ŸŒก๏ธ Take breaks from the heat when needed
๐Ÿพ Donโ€™t forget your pets can get too much sun too!

A little sunscreen today can prevent a lot of problems tomorrow. Stay safe and enjoy the sunshine, Gardner! โ˜€๏ธ

Today, we pause to remember.

Memorial Day is a time to honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice is the reason we are able to live, work, and serve in the community we love.

At the Gardner Police Department, we are reminded that service often comes with sacrifice. Today, we stand in gratitude for those who made the ultimate sacrifice and for the families who continue to carry their legacy forward.

As you spend time with family and friends today, we encourage you to take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of this day.

We will never forget.
