We're thrilled to celebrate our Director, Cale Pete, who's breaking new ground with the 2026 Lake Tahoe Summit's inaugural 'Harry Reid Lake Tahoe Trailblazer Award'! His tireless efforts to protect the Tahoe Basin, preserve tribal lands, and foster community well-being are a beacon of hope for a brighter future. A huge thank you to our incredible partners who share our vision for a healthier, more vibrant Lake Tahoe! 🌟🏞️ Photo downloaded from https://tahoesummit.org/livestream.

WEPD conducted another Lahontan Cutthroat Trout Recovery Event at Meeks Bay Resort in collaboration with the USFWS!

WEPD and USFWS released 4,000 LCT during this event, totaling around 9,000 LCT released this year for the Tribe. There were many interested beach goers that joined us for this special event. Shoutout to the Lahontan National Fish Hatchery.

The Máyala Wáta Restoration Project Season 2 has started!

This groundbreaking initiative is paving the way for the area's return to its natural meadow state, reclaiming it from conifer encroachment. As the first Washoe Tribe led project of this scale and magnitude in the Tahoe Basin, WEPD is proud to be driving positive change with support from the Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit, California Tahoe Conservancy, and the US Fish and Wildlife Service as partners. Project completion is expected this Fall!

Special thanks to the California Tahoe Conservancy for their aerial photography support 🌟
