The Brilliance School is seeking a dynamic and student-centered Dean of Culture to join our leadership team for the 2026–2027 school year.

As a member of our leadership team, the Dean of Culture will:
• Lead school-wide culture and climate initiatives
• Support student behavior and restorative practices
• Build strong relationships with scholars and families
• Promote attendance, engagement, and school pride
• Partner with teachers to create safe and supportive learning environments
• Help cultivate a culture rooted in PRIDE: Purpose, Resiliency, Integrity, Discipline, and Excellence

The Brilliance Bears Middle School Success Guide continues, and today we are talking about Uniform, Attendance, and Daily Expectations — three things every family needs to have locked in before the first day of school. 🐻📚 Uniform is mandatory at The Brilliance School, and that means an approved Brilliance polo, navy or black bottoms, school-approved outerwear, and closed-toe shoes — worn every single day. We ask all families to review the complete uniform policy before day one so your scholar walks in confident, prepared, and representing this community with pride from the moment they step through those doors. 💙
Attendance is equally non-negotiable, because every day of school matters. When scholars miss school, they miss valuable instruction, classroom discussions, group activities, and learning opportunities that simply cannot be replaced. It's Day 5 of our "Getting Ready for Kindergarten" campaign. This week we've talked about strengthening literacy skills, fostering independence, and making new friends at school. Today's topic is about getting ready for the big day.

When your child starts attending kindergarten every day, a consistent routine helps them feel acclimated and ready for school. It also makes life easier for parents!

Practice these daily routines for a week before the first day of kindergarten begins:

- Laying out their clothes the night before
- Waking up the same time every day
- Eating a healthy breakfast
- Creating a simple hygiene routine
- Practice heading out the door on time to catch the bus or get in the car

Establishing routines in advance will make the transition smoother. Plus, you and your child can get a feel for how much time you’ll need each morning.

It's Day 4 of our "Getting Ready for Kindergarten" campaign, and today we're going to talk about one of the most fun aspects of starting school: Making new friends!

Social skills are essential for a happy kindergarten experience. Your child will make new friends and meet peers that will follow them through years of school. Help your child prepare for healthy socializing by practicing the following habits:

- Sharing toys and taking turns
- Introducing themselves to new friends
- Using polite words like 'please' and 'thank you'
- Making eye contact and respecting personal space
- Cooperating and working together to accomplish goals

Meeting new friends makes school more fun! With the right attitude, your kindergartener can build friendships that will last a lifetime.

For many children, kindergarten is their first opportunity to participate in a structured social environment without parents or familiar caregivers. This is a major milestone in realizing independence, and giving your child the opportunity to do things for themselves will build confidence for the big transition.

Use the weeks leading up to their first day to encourage your child to practice some of these key kindergarten skills:

- Packing their own backpack 🎒
- Picking out their clothes 👕
- Tying their shoes 👟
- Cleaning their room 🧹
- Clearing the table after a meal 🍽
- Packing their own lunch 🥪
- Opening snacks and wrappers by themselves 🥨

Early literacy is a cornerstone of lifelong academic success. The skills your child learns in kindergarten will help them excel across all subjects and ensure they stay ahead of the learning curve. You can help your child prepare for kindergarten success by making literacy activities part of your daily routine. A few ideas:

-Read books together 📖
-Play with alphabet blocks 🔠
-Practice writing letters 📝
-Sing alphabet songs 🎶
-Spell out words you see on the go (billboards, signs, etc.) 🏧
-Give your child words and ask them to come up with rhymes 🤔
-Ask your child questions or have them tell you stories about their day 🗣

Kids love to learn! Try to make it fun and interactive. There are lots of wonderful free resources on YouTube or at your local libraries.

Welcome to our Kindergarten Readiness Campaign!

School is out for the summer, but we're already looking forward to August when our amazing scholars return.

This week we'll be sharing tips and activities to help you and your child get ready for the exciting adventure of kindergarten.

Why is kindergarten so important? For many children, kindergarten is the beginning of their formal academic journey. The kindergarten experience provides an introduction to so many critical skills: academic, intellectual, social, structural, communication, developmental, and more.

We want our scholars to get the most out of kindergarten, and we want to help parents prepare their kids for this amazing adventure.
