Garfield Heights Police Department - Ohio

At 11:10 PM on 8/19/26, GH Officers located an entered stolen vehicle out of Cleveland Heights traveling south on Turney in our city. The vehicle immediately fled from Officers who pursued the vehicle through Maple Heights and back through Garfield Heights. Officers used PIT maneuvers several times only for the driver to take increasingly dangerous and reckless actions to continue to evade capture. Ultimately, the suspect struck another vehicle at Turney and McCracken where his vehicle became disabled and he was apprehended. Thankfully the two occupants of the vehicle that was struck were unharmed.

In addition to having possession of a stolen car, 27 year-old Daquan Martin of Cleveland (pictured below) had active felony warrants for Parole Violation and Aggravated Vehicular Assault. He was charged with Receiving Stolen Property, Felony Fleeing and Eluding, and numerous traffic violations. He is currently being held without bond.

Our mission is clear; to keep criminals like this off our streets.

*** VEHICLE THEFTS UPDATE ***

Starting a little over a week ago, there were multiple car thefts in our city, Hyundais and Kias. Our Detectives and Targeted Enforcement Unit immediately began working with the Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Department Carjacking Unit to identify the suspects and locate the stolen vehicles.

Within the past seven days all six vehicles that were stolen have been recovered and seven arrests have been made. Those arrested have ties to numerous other property and violent crimes in the area.

There are so many great law enforcement officers in our area that are highly dedicated and motivated to holding criminals accountable and helping the victims of their crimes achieve restitution. Add in the technological resources we have available and results can happen very quickly.

Our sincerest appreciation to everyone involved with these cases, it was truly impressive to watch. And, for those who have not yet pieced together the message here… IF you choose to commit crimes in Garfield Heights, you WILL be caught. Thank you.

*** BREAKING: All 88 Ohio Counties under Statewide Air Quality Advisory Due to Wildfire Smoke for Thursday ***

The Ohio EPA has just issued a statewide Air Quality Advisory for every Ohio county tomorrow, Thursday, July 16, 2026 due to the impacts from Canadian wildfire smoke. They recommend all sensitive groups and those with certain medical conditions to avoid all outdoor activities, and everyone else should limit extended time outdoors.

We are aware of and actively monitoring this event that is circulating on social media. We have several outside agencies involved both behind the scenes and on the streets.

Anyone involved in disturbing the peace, blocking roadways, or causing any type of inconvenience or disruption to everyday life will be arrested. There will be zero tolerance and zero warnings given.

Please get the message out to any young people prior to tonight and strongly discourage them from participating. The best outcome is the event never happens and everyone remains safe. Thank you to everyone for your assistance.

Technology paired with highly-trained, motivated Officers creates a bad environment for criminals to come through.

This gentleman was wanted on multiple felony warrants for Fleeing & Eluding. He added felony fleeing & eluding, weapons under disability, improper handling, and drug trafficking today.
