Elsa Mantilla is a legend that was recognized by the Paterson City Council and the Mayor. While there is now a street sign that bares her name on the corner of Madison and 21st Aves, no sign will hold her name from traveling around the State, the nations, and around the world as a person who lifted thousands of emigrants and their families. For generations, propel will talk about how Elsa helped them and their families establish their new life in the USA.

Elsa, and her story, personifies the American dream, that hard work does pay off. I, and many others, from emigrant and minority communities owe her a debt of gratitude for kicking doors open for us. Despite her petite stature, she is a giant in our eyes.

Congratulations Elsa and thank you for all that you do.

Today, I join the Passaic community in mourning the loss of Officer Brian Lora #602. His dedication as a School Resource Officer over the past three years made our schools safer and our community stronger. My thoughts and prayers are with his loved ones during this difficult time.
