G. Raymond McCown American Legion Post 24, The American Legion is a nonpartisan, not-for-profit organization invested in support of our nation's veterans and patriotism.

The preamble to the American Legion Constitution-

For God and country, we associate ourselves together for the following purposes:
To uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America;
To maintain law and order;
To foster and perpetuate a one hundred percent Americanism;
To preserve our memories and incidents of our associations in all wars;
To inculcate a sense of individual obl

igation to the community, state, and nation;
to combat the autocracy of both the classes and the masses;

It is hard to believe that this will mark 25 years since 9/11. The young people we work with and are surrounded by today have very little or no knowledge about the events, sacrifices, and losses that day and the impact on our nation. Remember, share, teach, and never forget.

ACTUALLY IN THIS DAY AND AGE....TURNING YOUR DESK OR CHAIR TO FACE THE DOOR IS NOT A BAD IDEA !! This cartoon is pretty exaggerated....but, there may be co-workers who would not even understand the meaning of a Veteran's request to face the door ! DO YOU STILL POSITION YOURSELF IN A RESTAURANT OR OTHER PUBLIC PLACES SO YOU GET A BETTER VIEW OF ENTRANCES ?

The reality has hit. Our post will be closing and turning in our charter. We have started the housekeeping steps with weapons turnin to DOD and we will be starting contact with members for transfer to other posts. Last week the Department of Washington American Legion hosted its first ever Co-Ed Evergreen Boys & Girls State. What a tremendous success the week was! Check out ebgs-wa.org.

The days were long and the program is intense but, the institutional knowledge these delegates left with will forever change how they participate in their communities, counties, states and national government.
