In observance of Juneteenth, the office luncheon for Constable Gipson and staff was celebrated with traditional dishes.
Juneteenth is a federal holiday. Originating in Galveston, Texas, it has been celebrated annually on June 19th in various parts of the United States since 1865.
It was an honor to join Sheriff Marian Brown, her Executive Staff, and the men and women of the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department in honoring their 19 fallen deputies during National Police Week. May those who paid the ultimate sacrifice never be forgotten.

Cinco de Mayo, or the fifth of May, a holiday to celebrate the Mexican army’s victory over France at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862 during the Franco-Mexican War.

After 23 years of serving Dallas County, Dallas County Constable Office Pct. 2, and the citizens of Dallas County, Deputy Joe Watts is retiring.
Deputy Watts served in several different areas in the Constable's Office such as Writs Deputy, Civil Deputy, and for a time was detached to the Sheriff’s Clean Air Task Force.

Happy Birthday, Chief Deputy Shawna Turner!
Who is Shawna Turner?
Appointed as Chief Deputy of Dallas County Constable Office Pct. 2 in February 2019, by Constable Bill Gipson. With that appointment, she became the first female Chief Deputy in Pct. 2.
Chief Turner is no rookie to law enforcement. Serving two departments with over 34 years of continuous service, Chief Turner retired from the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department in 2018 with over 31 years of service and at the rank of lieutenant. While at the Sheriff’s Department, she worked in Detentions, Court Services, Criminal Investigations, Internal Affairs, Resource Development, Training Academy, and was a part of the Sheriff’s Executive Administration.
A five-year breast cancer survivor, she has a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, is a Master Peace Officer, and a Licensed Instructor with the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement. Chief Turner is a recent graduate of the Bill Blackwood LEMIT Texas Constables Leadership College.

The Deputy Reserves Constable Association Pct 2 Annual Turkey Drive was a huge success. 200 turkeys were donated to the community. Giving back is the goal. Great job!

The Texas Constables Leadership College (TCLC) is an intensive educational program for Constables and their management staff and requires a sincere commitment of time away from the agency. Modeled on the Leadership Command College (LCC), this progressive and challenging program provides in-depth investigations of issues facing law enforcement and offers growth and development of leadership and management skills in your agency. The courses are taught in a highly interactive manner that encourages continuous thought and participation. A commitment is required for all three modules as well as the completion of your personal leadership portfolio.
