The Town of Garner uses social media to interact with residents, businesses and visitors about public issues related to our jurisdiction. Please note that our social media properties are moderated online discussion sites and are subject to North Carolina public records laws, as well as e-discovery laws and policies. All comments and content shared on ou

r government-sponsored social media must pertain to items within the jurisdictional control or authority of our governmental unit. The Town of Garner reserves the right to delete submissions that do not meet the purpose of our social media properties as set out above. The following are examples of unacceptable social networking content and comments. Please note this list is not intended to be all inclusive:

1) Any content or comments that do not relate to the jurisdiction or authority of the jurisdiction itself.
2) Profane or obscene language or content as determined by the profanity filters offered through each social media platform (such posts result in the comment/content being blocked through the social media’s profanity filter).
3) Content that promotes, fosters or perpetrates discrimination on the basis of race, natural hair or hairstyles, ethnicity, creed, color, sex, pregnancy, marital or familial status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin or ancestry, National Guard or veteran status, religious belief or non-belief, age or disability.
4) Duplicate posts by the same author (the original post will be left intact assuming it follows the guidelines of acceptable comments or content).
5) Solicitations of commerce, including content that contains gratuitous links (links or references to other relevant governmental webpages or official government sites are acceptable).
6) Promotions or content related to political organizations of any type.
7) Advocation of illegal activity; or those that compromise safety or security of the public.
8) Infringement on copyrights or trademarks.
9) Confidential or non-public information, including but not limited to any personally identifiable medical information and any content that violates the legal rights of the owner of said content. Please note that the opinions expressed in the comments section of our social media properties do not reflect the opinions and positions of the Town of Garner government, its elected officials or employees. 💦 COME CELEBRATE GARNER’S FIRST SPLASH WITH US! 💦

Join us for the Grand Opening of the White Deer Park Splash Pad on Friday, June 12 from 3:30–4:00 PM at White Deer Park!

☀️ The Splash Pad will be open daily from 9:00 AM – 7:00 PM.

Before you visit:
💧 No lifeguard on duty
👨‍👩‍👧 Parental supervision required
🩱 Proper swim attire required
🐾 No pets in splash pad area
➡️ Please follow posted park signage

📌 Note: The splash pad is operational in test mode ahead of the June 12th Grand Opening as staff continue final preparations and observe community use. Operating hours prior to the Grand Opening may vary and are not guaranteed.

Get ready to paddle, cast a line, and enjoy time on the water as our Lake Benson Boathouse officially opens Saturday, May 16!

Visitors can enjoy:
🛶 Kayak & canoe rentals
🎣 Dock fishing
🌳Scenic views and fresh air

Season Schedule:
📅 May 16 – May 24: Saturdays & Sundays | 7 AM – 3 PM
📅 Beginning May 29: Fridays – Sundays | 7 AM – 3 PM

📌Due to current lake levels, Jon Boat rentals will not be available at this time

Town Offices, Facilities and Parks Closed Tomorrow; No Solid-Waste Service

Town offices, facilities and parks will be closed on Monday. Meals on Wheels service is canceled for Monday as well.

There will be no solid-waste collection on Monday. Garner residents on Monday routes should place their carts at the curb by 7 a.m. on Tuesday for pickup. Residents on other routes should follow their regular weekly pickup schedule.

Wake County has opened emergency shelters at the following locations:

* Southeast Raleigh High School, 2600 Rock Quarry Road, Raleigh
* Heritage High School, 1150 Forestville Road, Wake Forest

Road conditions remain extremely dangerous. Please continue to stay off the roads if at all possible (even during lulls in precipitation) and stay indoors to avoid the risk of serious injury. If you must go outdoors, please try to remain on grassy areas instead of hard surfaces.

Tomorrow is Squirrel Appreciation Day! The Gray squirrel and the Southern flying squirrel are the 2 resident species at the park, but NC is home to 5 different species of squirrels.
