Congratulations to our very own Mrs Getts for receiving the Silver Railroader Spike Award!

Each month, we have the opportunity to recognize a staff member who truly exemplifies one of our Character Counts pillars. This month, our focus is Respect—and there is no better way to describe our August honoree than to say that respect is evident in everything she does.

Our August Railroad Spike goes to Tasha Getts.

Tasha demonstrates respect in the way she cares for her students, supports her colleagues, and contributes to our entire school community. She treats others with kindness, patience, and genuine care.

What makes Tasha especially deserving of this recognition is that she doesn't just talk about respect—she models it every day. Through her interactions with students and staff, she shows us what it looks like to lead with compassion and to treat everyone with dignity.

Just like a railroad spike helps hold the tracks together, Tasha is someone who helps hold our school community together. Her positive presence and the respect she shows others make Garrett Middle School a better place.

Tasha, thank you for being such a wonderful example of Respect and for the care you show our students, our staff, and our school. We are proud to honor you with the August Railroad Spike!

All GKB students in grades K–12 now receive FREE admission to all Garrett Middle School athletic contests!

Grades K-5 MUST be accompanied by an adult!

Come out, pack the stands and support the Locomotives! 💪🚂
Free admission excludes conference and/or postseason tournaments and events.

🏈 5th Quarter is coming Friday night!

Middle school students in grades 6–8 are invited to the Oasis Student Center after the game this Friday night for food, games and fun until 11 p.m.!

🚪 Doors open at 9:30 p.m. or after the game ends.

The Garrett Middle School CyberPatriot team is looking for new members.

CyberPatriot is a program hosted by the US Air and Space Forces for students to learn more about computers, cyber security, and teamwork. Any GMS student in grades 7 or 8 are invited to join the team. No experience is necessary.

Our first team meeting/practice will be this Sunday (August 23) from 4-7 pm in room 211 of the high school. Students should enter and exit the school through Door 24. Pizza and snacks will be provided so bring a friend!

This program has won the State Championship five years in a row. We look forward to seeing you be the next State Champion at GMS beginning this Sunday!

Before we get back to school, please familiarize yourself with school bus safety rules and standards on the roads. Help us keep our kids safe this school year!

The GMS office is closed today and Monday due to a power outage for the construction project. The office will reopen on August 11th at noon.

Back to School Night is quickly approaching! August 6, 5:30-7:30. Pick up schedule, meet your teachers, and try out your locker. Feel free to bring your school supplies in to put in your lockers.

You can stop by the middle school office to register your student for picture day and to pre-purchase 26/27 yearbooks $22. If you are not able to stop in, we will have other opportunities later in the year.

If you ordered last year's yearbook, they are in and can be picked up or we will send them home with your student when school starts.
