Garrett Area Volunteer Fire Department We are a fire protection district, set up to protect lives and property in the Garrett Area of Floyd Co. Kentucky.

We also provide techinal rescue services that include high/low angle rope rescue, confine space, auto extrication and swift water rescue.

We are getting reports of water over the roadway in the curve below Old Cases Furniture building on Ky 7/550 going towards Saltlick. This will be the same place the water was over Friday night. Please use caution when traveling in the area.

extending from Bonanza to Dock to Porter Junction, moving northeast
at 40 mph.

* WHAT...Minor flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...A portion of southeast Kentucky, including the following
counties, Breathitt, Clay, Floyd, Knott, Magoffin, Owsley and
Perry.

* WHEN...Until 730 PM EDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- At 432 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
shortly in the advisory area. Between 0.8 and 1.5 inches of
rain have fallen.
- Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are expected over
the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding.
- Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Jackson, Buckhorn, Clayhole, Watts, Flintville, Lost Creek,
Hardshell, Ned, Haddix, Little, Wilstacy, Smith Branch,
Press, Portsmouth, Copland, Saldee, Howard Creek, Quicksand,
Whick and Rowdy.

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law
enforcement and request they pass this information to the National
Weather Service when you can do so safely.

MAGOFFIN COUNTIES THROUGH 500 PM EDT...

At 432 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along
a line extending from Bonanza to Pippa Passes. Movement was east at
30 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
possible.

Locations impacted include...
Pikeville, Paintsville, Prestonsburg, Hindman, Inez, Estill, Coal Run
Village, Wheelwright, Martin, Pippa Passes, Wayland, Allen, Oaklawn
Estates, Handshoe, Davella, Glo, Lancer, McDowell, Collista, and West

* WHERE...The Flood Watch is for portions of northeast and southeast Kentucky, including the following counties. Martin, Bell, Floyd, Harlan, Knott, Leslie, Letcher, Perry, and Pike.

* WHEN...The Flood Watch is in effect until 1 AM tonight.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Showers and thunderstorms will affect most of the area, and where they are most persistent, flash flooding could occur.

Please use caution on Ky 7/550 just below the old Case’s Furniture Store in the curve going towards Salt Lick. A drain has stopped up and the road is 3/4 covered by water.
