With Labor Day fast approaching, we can only wonder at the fortitude and perseverance of the workers that built our country. In honor of them, the Library will be closed this coming Saturday through Monday, September 5-7. Nevertheless, the Friends of the Library Book Sale will be open for business!

Also this week, we will be presenting a program on how to avoid scams and identity theft, as well as a meetup for caregivers. We'll tell you more about the events this week at https://desmondfishlibrary.org/events/month/2026-09/

We've reached the point in the summer to embrace the dreamy side of life. Whether wandering a meadow of wild flowers (i.e. our Walking Path) or strolling a moonlit glade, it's worth remembering that living is miraculous. To that end, the library is clearing the decks for dreaming: there are no weekly events scheduled this week and the only special events are a book club meeting and a movie for teens. Those lazy, hazy days of summer are zooming past—make the most of what's remaining at the Desmond-Fish Public Library. Enjoy our Walking Path, Reading Garden, Nature Play Area, and Solar Pavilion, or come indoors for our wide-ranging special events.
