Introducing Our Quarterly Address Series!

Welcome to the first installment of our Quarterly Address Series, where our Executive Director, Jessica Beasley shares updates from across Northwest Indiana Lighthouse Charter Schools, highlights district accomplishments, and provides insight into our ongoing work and priorities.

In this Quarter 1 Address, we’re taking a look at the progress we’ve made, important milestones, and what’s ahead for our scholars, families, and school communities.

Here’s a look at some of our Quarter 1 highlights:

Literacy Progress: District IREAD scores increased from 74% to 77.5%.

Graduation & Scholarships: Our high school achieved a 94% graduation rate, with graduates earning more than $29 million in scholarships, the highest total in district history.

Expanded Academic Opportunities: Every eighth-grade scholar now has access to high school courses, creating additional opportunities for academic growth.

New Primary Building: We’ve officially broken ground on our new primary building, with hopes of introducing pre-K next school year.

Attendance & Family Support: We’ve received the Lilly Endowment Opportunity to Learn Planning Grant to better understand attendance challenges and identify ways to support our families.
Jessica also shares updates on our district’s strategic priorities and the work underway to strengthen teaching, learning, and the overall scholar experience.

October is National Principals Month, and we’re continuing to celebrate the incredible leaders who make a difference across our Lighthouse schools every day!

Yesterday, our CPC Campus was full of possibility, purpose & opportunity at the R.O.O.A.R. College & Career Fair! 🎓💼

With 35+ college & career representatives in attendance, students across all grade levels had the opportunity to explore college pathways, careers, trades, military options & more…giving them an early look at just how many possibilities their futures can hold. Some of our seniors even got some acceptances! 🥳

Because preparing students for what’s next starts long before graduation. 💙💛

A new chapter is beginning at Gary Lighthouse Primary Campus. 💙💛

We officially broke ground on our new school building, which will open in 2027 and expand what’s possible for our scholars, families, and community. Along with additional classrooms and spaces for learning and engagement, the new campus will also mark the beginning of something very special for Lighthouse: the opening of our Pre-K program.

This groundbreaking represents an exciting step forward for our Primary Campus and our continued commitment to serving children and families throughout Northwest Indiana. We’re incredibly excited about what’s ahead and grateful to everyone who joined us to celebrate this pivotal moment.

It’s hard to believe it’s been 25 years.

For so many of us, we can still remember exactly where we were on September 11, 2001. Many of today’s teachers, school leaders, staff and parents were students ourselves, sitting in classrooms as the events of that day unfolded.

Twenty-five years later, we now have a new generation of scholars who pause with us each year to remember September 11 and understand why this day continues to hold such meaning for our country.

Today, we remember the lives that were lost, the families whose lives were forever changed and the first responders and everyday people who showed incredible courage.

And as a school community, we will continue to remember, reflect and make sure the significance of this day is never forgotten.

25 years later, we remember. 🇺🇸

Fun Friday at East Chicago Lighthouse Charter School is always a student favorite, but it would not be possible without the incredible parents and volunteers who continue to show up for our scholars all year long

Today, Ms. Lopez took a moment to recognize Ms. Lewis and Mrs. Sevier for their continued support and dedication to our school community. From popcorn and nachos to slushies and smiles, their willingness to volunteer helps create the moments our scholars look forward to each Friday.

As we prepare for upcoming events like Field Day and continue activities across our campuses, we would love to build a larger roster of parent volunteers throughout Northwest Indiana Lighthouse Charter Schools.

Whether your scholar attends EC, Primary, or any of our campuses, there are so many opportunities to get involved, support events, and be part of the experiences that make our schools special.
