“La Porte County friends and neighbors, we are asking for our community to rise up, rally together, and lift Deputy Jon Samuelson and his family in prayer and support during this incredibly challenging time.

On this Memorial Day, we join our community in honoring the fallen heroes who served with dedication and courage. May we honor their legacy through gratitude, reflection, and community. Their sacrifice protects the freedoms we enjoy every day.

The Gary Parole District wrapped up Corrections Week with a catered luncheon, our annual cornhole/bags, tournament, Crosstown Classic (Cubs 11 White Sox 4), and staff recognition awards.

Parole Agent T. Hill was presented with a plaque celebrating her 30 year milestone with the IDOC. A career that began at Indiana State Prison as a correctional officer, where she promoted to several different positions, to her current role here at PD6 as a parole agent.

Parole Agent / CPO J. Thomas not only was selected by his peers as the PD6 Parole Agent of the Year, but he also was selected as the Division of Parole Services Agent of the Quarter!

Agent Thomas and THL Jessen were this year’s winners of the “Annual Ruwersma Co****le Classic!”

Today, the Gary Parole District kicked off Employee Appreciation Week by celebrating “Star Wars Day!”

Staff were able to show their love for the Star Wars Universe by wearing their favorite Star Wars t-shirt.

The first full week of May is dedicated to honoring the work of professionals in the corrections field as established by President Ronald Reagan on May 5, 1984.

I want to take a moment to sincerely thank the team here at the Gary Parole District for the dedication, professionalism, and integrity that they exhibit every day.

The job of a parole agent is not an easy one. It requires sound judgment, patience, and a commitment to both public safety and second chances.

The efforts that the staff put forth often go unseen, but they make a real difference in our communities and in the lives of those we supervise.

I am proud to be a part of such a strong team, and I appreciate everything that they do to uphold the Mission and Vision of the Indiana Department of Correction.

Today is Administrative Professionals Day. We here at the Gary Parole District would like to thank our Administrative Assistant N. Ward for everything that she does.

Her organization, professionalism, and attention to detail does not go unnoticed. She is the first point of contact for our district office where she greets everyone with a smile and her positive energy.

Thank you Mrs. Ward for your hard work, dedication, and everything that you do. We hope that you enjoyed your day.

Today is an important day at the Gary Parole District. Not only was it Range Day, where we practice and requalify with our firearm, but it is opening day at our favorite local Chicago Hot Dog stand, Depot Dog.
