Today, Michael McPherson was charged in connection with the June 18, 2026, shooting of a man in the 400 block of Bridge Street. Investigators believe the incident stemmed from a road rage encounter.

McPherson has been charged with two counts of aggravated battery, criminal recklessness, and criminal mischief. McPherson is in custody and is awaiting transport to the Lake County Jail.

Today, Terrence McCoy was arrested for the June 8, 2026 homicide of Darius Moffett, which occurred in the 3100 block of Richard Gordon Hatcher Boulevard. This investigation is being conducted by the Lake County Prosecutor’s Homicide Task Force. Anyone with information related to this case is encouraged to contact Detective Salazar at 219-755-3855.

Today, Antwon Oliver was charged in connection with the June 9, 2026, murder of Antwan Morris in the 100 block of E 5th Avenue. Oliver was charged with murder and a firearm enhancement. Today, Derrick Pouncey was sentenced to 176 years in the Indiana Department of Corrections for multiple felony charges related to the April 10, 2024 double homicide of Klorya and Kyle Matthews and the attempted murder of another individual.

Pouncey was convicted of:

• Murder (2 Counts)
• Attempted Murder
• Aggravated Battery
• Domestic Battery
• Battery
• Firearm Enhancement (3 Counts)

The Lake County Prosecutor's Homicide Task Force investigated the case.

Today at the 2026 District 1 Law Enforcement Council awards banquet we had Sgt. Michael Mitchell and Officer Daniel Paulson awarded for Exemplary Service. Sgt. David Umbarger received the President Award and Retired Cpl. McKinley was awarded a Lifetime Achievement. Congrats to our award winners.
