Under the leadership of current Trustee Tai Adkins, the Calumet Township Trustee Office is responsible for providing life’s basic supporting needs. Applications for assistance are processed between the hours of 8:00 am to 4:00 pm

Type of Services Available:
Housing - Housing assistance for rent or mortgage

Utilities/Fuel - Assistance can be provided for current utility bills

Food - Food vouchers can be provided for households not receiving food stamps

Transportation - Transportation to eligible person who is stranded and request to be sent to his/her place of legal residence. Burials - Assistance is available for deceased family members who lived in Calumet Township

Traveler’s Aid - Assistance can be provided for qualifying applicants stranded in Calumet Township and need help returning to legal residence within the U. by means of a one way bus ticket. Medical Expenses - Doctor’s visits, Prescriptions, Diagnostics, Dental and Eye Care

Today, we took our storm relief efforts directly into the community!

Through our Calumet Cares Storm Relief Initiative, Calumet Township partnered with Ladybug Laundry to provide over $5,000 in laundry assistance to families across ALL THREE Ladybug Laundry locations in the region.

We extend a special thank you to the Ladybug Laundry leadership team for partnering with us and helping us serve our residents when they need it most!

Thank you to everyone who joined us at the Multipurpose Center.

A special shoutout to the American Red Cross for partnering with us on-site to provide vital disaster relief resources alongside our food distribution. Together, we were able to support hundreds of local families!

🚨 IMPORTANT SNAP REPLACEMENT BENEFIT DEADLINE — AUGUST 31

Calumet Township is sharing this information as a public service for residents who may have been impacted by the August severe storms, flooding, and extended power outages.

Households currently receiving SNAP benefits who lost food because of storm damage, flooding, or a power outage may be eligible to request replacement SNAP benefits through the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA).

The deadline to submit the required affidavit is Monday, August 31, 2026.

Residents may submit the affidavit directly to FSSA by:
• Uploading it through the FSSA Benefits Portal:

• Faxing it to 888-436-9199
• Delivering it to a Division of Family Resources (DFR) office

The loss must be verified by FSSA.

PLEASE NOTE: Calumet Township DOES NOT administer SNAP benefits and has NO AUTHORITY over eligibility, approval, processing, or replacement benefit decisions. We are sharing this information to help ensure our residents are aware of this time-sensitive resource.

The Main Office will close at 12:30 PM.

Calumet Township is incredibly grateful to partner with Sanders BBQ Supply Co. of Chicago's Beverly neighborhood nationally recognized by The New York Times as one of the 50 best restaurants in America to provide 500 freshly prepared hot meals to our residents this Tuesday.

We are incredibly grateful to Hard Rock Casino Northern Indiana for stepping forward to support Calumet Township’s continued storm recovery efforts.

Our team has been working tirelessly to stretch every available resource and continue showing up for residents during an incredibly difficult time. This support is a true blessing and will allow us to continue expanding our relief efforts and programming in the weeks ahead.

A special thank you to Hard Rock President Matt Schuffert for reaching out and asking how Hard Rock could help. These dollars will be used to support relief efforts through the township.

Warrior Football: Let’s Come Together, Lake Ridge!

After everything our community has faced following the devastating storm, we could all use an opportunity to come together and enjoy something positive.

The Calumet High School Athletic Department will be reducing admission prices for our upcoming football game in hopes of giving our families an affordable evening to spend together while showing some love and support for our Warrior Football Team!
