The Gaston Police Department has been informed by CSX Transportation of an announced track maintenance project that will begin on Tuesday, March 31, 2026. This project includes the installation of new railroad ties at the listed locations.

It is an overall 3-week project that will end on/around 4/17/26. This team will work Monday, 3-30 โ€“ April 3 week 1 and when they return on Monday April 6, they will work 8 straight days. This will include weekend closures.

Crossings will be closed anywhere from 2-5 days, depending on the type of maintenance they are set to receive. Please note: Crossings will not be closed for the entire duration of the project. They will only be closed for the number of days just mentioned. *Please keep in mind the estimated closure time frames are merely the best approximation we can provide at this time. These dates are highly subject to change with or without notice simply due to many of the unforeseen circumstances that can occur in the field once the work begins. * With the one way in/out crossings, we will work as hard as possible to have those accessible within a 24-hour period (or less).

The below link is an interactive map that will be updated as the work is completed with real time updates.
