🌳 TREE CANOPY UPDATE 🌳
The City’s Tree Commission has been working to update the York-Chester Tree Inventory with the assistance of a contracted company, Davey Resource Group, Inc. Their team will be in the neighborhood June 8–19 conducting the survey work.
Davey previously completed the original inventory in 2019. This update will help verify and revise existing records and document changes that have occurred over the last several years. The team will evaluate up to 750 trees, stumps, and potential planting sites located within street rights-of-way and maintained park areas. During the inventory, crews will collect information including tree species, size, condition, maintenance needs, and risk management recommendations. The updated data will help guide future tree planting, maintenance, and long-term urban forestry planning efforts within the York-Chester neighborhood.
We want to make residents aware that they may see Davey staff walking throughout the neighborhood with tablets and equipment as they document and assess trees. We appreciate the community’s support as we continue working to preserve and grow York Chester’s urban canopy. Once this is completed, we will be able to share the information with the community.
Please note, we are sharing this information from the ACE Program and our City Tree Commission and direct all questions/comments their way!
