Princess comes to us after her owner passed away😔 She's been having a hard time adjusting to shelter life. She is often huddled in the corner of her kennel hiding away quietly. But if you take the time to speak to her softly, she quickly leans in for chin scratches🥺 It's clear that she wants love and affection but the sudden change in her life is making her withdrawn.

We are becoming increasingly concerned about Princess as she's not had the best appetite and is now having some urinary issues we suspect are stress related. We are eager to find her placement outside of the shelter so she can truly decompress in a calmer and more familiar feeling environment💗

Ricotta is one of our adoptable pups that's been looked over more times than not🥺

He is a rather big boy but is well behaved and gentle. (Even for his exam with veterinary staff!) He is careful not to climb up onto handlers for attention and maintains all 4 paws on the ground. It suggests he had a family previously, knew some basic obedience, and was well socialized. Ricotta comes to us as a stray so all we can do is make observations😔

Ricotta clearly yearns for a good butt scratch and that's really all he needs! Ricotta has interacted with other dogs in our care and we've come to learn where he's truly happiest is with two-legged friends soaking up all the attention. These homes can be harder to find but we are hopeful with your help we can reach them🏡🐾

◼️INFO: Ricotta Animal ID #: 61387331, 3 year old American Bully, neutered male, 71lbs, HWP *finished doxycycline*, prefers to be the only dog.

UPDATE - Salami has surpassed his deadline and is still without placement! A rescue organization is now interested but they are in need of a foster home since this boy would not manage well in a boarding environment. Please contact Aly (732) 604-0625 of Arcadia Animal Rescue if you can help🙏

Salami is the only urgent dog from last week that has been left behind😔

You might remember the original plea for a dog that was struggling from severe kennel stress. If you missed that post you can see it here: https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1JxqUUhh45/ Salami started medication that doesn’t necessarily get rid of shelter stressors but helps him cope. In combination with more out of kennel enrichment (lots of walks) and more high value in kennel enrichment (food filled frozen kongs) we’ve had a much easier time managing his stress, but this isn’t a permanent solution💔

Salami comes to us as an emaciated stray so unfortunately we don’t know his entire history. But we do know in the most recent times life wasn’t kind to him. We are looking for an understanding and patient family. It's possible Salami may have never lived indoors before and there will certainly be an adjustment period in learning your home and routine. A lot of these things may be completely new to him🥺

If you are unable to adopt or pull, please share this post in hopes of reaching his future forever family or an organization that has space to accomodate🐾

⬛️Salami ID #: 61378363, 7 year old Terrier mix, altered male, 57lbs, HW positive *started doxycycline*, joins gentle/dainty dog playgroups.

We have a bit of a camera shy girl on our hands😅 Priscilla would much rather be getting pets and giving kisses, a squeaker and our tastiest treats don’t even do the trick!

Priscilla comes to us as a stray in quite a neglected condition😔 She was friendly to the responding officer that scanned her for a microchip and gave her a ride to the shelter💗

Upon medical evaluation we discovered she is underweight, suffering from bilateral ear infections, has some bloodwork abnormalities, grade 4 dental disease, skin issues, and arthritis. A hefty list of concerns! Luckily all are treatable and manageable, but it will certainly take some time to get her fully healed and feeling better. This is where you come in. We need your help networking to find rescue placement🙏

◼️INFO: Priscilla Animal ID #: 61599707, 10 year old Hound mix, spayed female, 38lbs, HW negative, calm/low energy, aloof with other dogs.

We are calling this dear boy Grandpappy🥺

He comes to us as a stray so we unfortunately don’t know his story. Did his medical needs become too costly? Was end of life care being considered but the owner didn’t know where to turn? We do wish we knew more about him so we can better comfort him, even knowing his name would give him something familiar, but it doesn’t always work out that way😔

We are now seeking immediate hospice rescue placement. No animal deserves to pass alone huddled up in the corner of their kennel. Our wish is that Grandpappy can lay in the soft grass, take in all the best smells, feel the sunshine, and have all those naughty human foods he’s dreamed of his whole life. He may only be with us a short time but those moments can be filled with kindness, compassion, and dignity for when it comes time for him to cross the rainbow bridge🌈

◼️INFO: Grandpappy Animal ID #: 61624370, 8 year old Terrier mix, neutered male, 72lbs, HW negative. For full medical report please email [email protected].
🩺MEDICAL SUMMARY: Behavior Notes: Very sweet, calm dog, tolerated exam well. Problem List: Severe generalized dermatitis, vision impaired, severe ocular discharge and corneal changes, severe otitis externa AU, masses, heavy dental tartar, arthritis. Radiographs - severe generalized heart enlargement seen on thoracic radiographs. Follow Up/Additional Comments: This dog has multiple severe health issues. I am concerned that he also has dilated cardiomyopathy.

In case you haven't heard we are extending our fee waived adoptions through September 5th🐾

We know this has caused some concern in the community. Fee waived adoptions STILL require an application process and a background check to ensure there has been no previous negative animal history. By us waiving this fee, we simply hope what would normally be paid to the shelter in the form of an adoption fee, can be used in a more meaningful way.

Perhaps this allows the pet to establish their primary veterinary care right away or perhaps they can attend their very first training session!

➡️If you are looking for a dog social and playful pup, be sure to check out Zinnia ID #: 61474188 (black) and Leia ID #: 61323849 (brindle)!

We sound like a broke record player, we know😔

We again have another two kittens with ringworm that are urgently needing foster homes or rescue transfer. We have a very limited space where we can isolate sickly kittens. This quickly fills up during kitten season and that’s when we need your help the most🤞

Ringworm is a fungal infection that is transmittable to people and other household pets. The ideal foster family will have an area where they can easily isolate, which can be as simple as a guest bathroom. We provide ALL supplies including PPE and veterinary care. We provide disposable litter trays, food bowls, and p*e pads that can be tossed immediately after use to prevent spread through dishes/laundry.

A simple act of kindness by opening up your home is often the reason these little ones get a chance to find families once healed. The commitment is temporary, but the impact is forever💗

This sweet older gal comes to us as a stray. She has some geriatric medical concerns but she appears to have had a family before. Pepper loves to be held and she’s a bit round, so she’s been eating well😅

These situations always leave our shelter staff guessing. Is the owner elderly and not tech savvy to know how to search for their lost pet? Could the owner have become ill or have passed away? Pepper doesn’t strike those boxes of an unloved or unwanted pet💔

We are hoping to get this girl on the right path by connecting with a rescue organization with more medical resources. It’s likely Pepper will need both eyes enucleated, some dental extractions, and evaluation of the masses that she has. If you can help, please contact the shelter!🐾
