Standing strong within our communities during National Night Out 2025 in Lebanon, Marion, and Chilhowie. 💪🇺🇸

The National Night Out 2025 events provided a valuable opportunity for connection, service, and trust-building. Our involvement focused on fostering relationships with the people we serve, supporting our partners in law enforcement and emergency response, inspiring the next generation of leaders, and sharing the true significance of wearing the uniform in our local communities.

As members of the Virginia Army National Guard, we’re deeply rooted in the communities we protect.
We don’t just serve as soldiers — we serve as teachers, mechanics, EMTs, students, and parents. We live here, work here, and stand ready to defend and support our neighbors when it matters most.

Events like these remind us that strong communities are built through trust, connection, and service — values we carry with us in and out of uniform.

🙏 Thank you to everyone who stopped by to say hello, learn more about what we do, and share a smile with the Guard.

📍 Couldnt make it tonight? We’ll be at National Night Out events tomorrow in Lebanon, Marion, and Chilhowie, VA! Come out, meet the team, and learn how the Guard supports your community every day.

Week One of Annual Training at Ft. Pickett: Complete!

We kicked things off by putting the M1088s to the test on Beavers Trail — a challenging man-made driving obstacle course designed to push skills to the limit.

Next, the team tackled the Leaders Reaction Course, honing leadership and teamwork while navigating a variety of obstacles.

On top of all that, the guys took a diagnostic AFT (Army Fitness Test), giving it their all and showing some serious dedication to staying mission-ready.

The energy was high, the challenges were real, and the crew loved every minute of it! Here’s to more training, growth, and great times ahead. 💪🚛🔥

We kicked off this year’s annual training with an unforgettable experience — helicopter rides for our incredible Soldiers who re-enlisted this year! 🚁🇺🇸

This special thank-you was our way of recognizing their continued commitment and dedication to serving our nation. Their choice to raise their right hand again means everything.

We also had the honor of presenting a few well-deserved medals to some outstanding Soldiers whose hard work and excellence truly stood out. 🏅

Proud moments like these remind us why we serve — for each other, for our mission, and for the values we uphold every day. 💪

Celebrating Service, Heritage, and Family Bonds 🇺🇸

Retirement in the Army isn't just the end of a career—it's a reflection of heritage, pride, professionalism, and the unbreakable bonds formed through service.

Recently, we got to honor SGT Sanders and SSG Rivero of the 1032nd Transportation Company as they retire from the Virginia Army National Guard. Their leadership, loyalty, and dedication have strengthened not just our unit—but the legacy of those who serve.

SGT Sanders, our Food Service NCOIC, ensured the unit was always ready for the mission ahead. His attention to detail and commitment extended beyond the field, especially as the NCOIC of the Funeral Honors Team—where he honored generations of soldiers with dignity and respect. True to form, his farewell came with a smile and a nod to tradition—celebrating the discovery of a kilt in the Army OCP pattern.

SSG Rivero, a proud Marine turned Guardsman, brought a wealth of experience and a strong family-first mentality to every role he held. His deep knowledge of unit weapon systems and passion for mentorship made him a trusted leader and teacher to our younger soldiers. His presence has left a lasting mark on the 1032nd family.

To SGT Sanders and SSG Rivero: your service has been a beacon of excellence. You’ve embodied what it means to wear the uniform—with pride, with purpose, and with heart. Thank you for your legacy.
