Our hearts are heavy today as we stand alongside the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office during this time of unimaginable loss.

We are deeply saddened by the tragic shooting that claimed the life of one Carroll County deputy and left another injured. The entire Scott County Sheriff’s Office sends our deepest condolences, thoughts, and prayers to the fallen deputy’s family, friends, and colleagues. We also extend our fervent hopes for a swift recovery to the injured deputy, and offer our support to their loved ones and everyone impacted by this senseless tragedy.

We ask our community to join us in praying for the safety and strength of the law enforcement officers who are working tirelessly to locate and apprehend the individual responsible. Every single day, these brave men and women put themselves in harm's way to protect our communities and defend the peace—today, they do so with heavy hearts as they seek justice for their fallen and injured brothers.

The law enforcement community is a tight-knit family; when one agency hurts, we all hurt. Scott County stands shoulder-to-shoulder with Carroll County today, tomorrow, and in the difficult days ahead.

Rest easy, Deputy. We have the watch from here.

🌫️ 🚔 DENSE FOG 🚔🌫️

We’re seeing some thick patches of fog across the county this morning, especially in the hollows, along creeks, and on our winding mountain roads. While fog is a pretty normal part of life in Scott County, visibility can still change quickly from one curve to the next.

If you’re heading out this morning:

⚠️ Slow down on backroads and curves
💡 Use LOW-BEAM headlights
🛑 Leave extra space between vehicles
🦌 Watch for wildlife near roadways
🚌 Keep an eye out for school buses, farm equipment, stopped traffic, and pedestrians

A little extra caution can go a long way on foggy mornings like this. Stay safe, take your time, and we hope you have a great day folks!
