For Scott County students interested in scholarship opportunities:

The Scott County Democratic Party is offering a $1,000 scholarship to a member of the Class of

2017 who will be graduating from a Scott County High School or will receive a GED Diploma by June, 2017. The candidate for this scholarship must be a permanent resident of Scott County, have been accepted into any two or four-year college and be able to demonstrate financial need and academic promise. This scholarship is unrestricted and may be used for any purpose of the student's choosing. High school seniors may contact their guidance counselor for an application and more information, and GED students may contact the Director of the Regional Adult Education Program in Gate City, VA at 276-386-2433.

Attention all veterans and their immediate family members, you are cordially invited to participate in the Multi-Weapon Tournament.

The tournament is scheduled for Saturday, May 30, 2026, starting at 11:15 am with registration from 10:00-11:00 am. The event will take place at Dixon Range, located at 418 Dixon Range Rd, Clintwood, VA 24228.

Participation is complimentary for veterans, while family members are required to pay a fee of $20.00. A complimentary BBQ lunch will be provided.

This event is proudly sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Clintwood, Dickenson Food Bank, and Appalachian Harvest.
