Ray Ashby Coryell County Commissioner Pct.4 Candidate 2026 Ray Ashby for Coryell County Commissioner Pct 4 Ray Ashby was born in Coryell County and has been a longstanding resident for almost 50 years.

He understands the need for local homegrown community leaders to stand up and preserve the successful functionality of the county while making positive advancements to better serve the interests of the citizens and future generations. Ashby currently represents Coryell County as a Director on the Executive Board of Hill Country Community Action Association, HCCAA. He serves within committees that

support and provide services to youth and seniors in programs such as Head Start and Meals on Wheels. On December 9, 2019, Ashby presented his authored Second Amendment Sanctuary Resolution to the Commissioner’s Court. It passed unanimously and provided Coryell County protection against any federal changes to our Second Amendment Constitutional
Right to Bear Arms. In September of 2021, Ashby was appointed President of the Board of Trustees for Central Counties Services, formally known as MHMR. His dedicated work on this board has assisted in securing multiple grants that provide necessary funding to many programs such as the Mental Health Deputy Program right here in Coryell County. Ashby is an active volunteer on the Board of Directors at the Coryell County Museum. On this board, Ashby helps preserve the historical integrity of Coryell County and its citizens through the management of the museum, participating in community activities, and providing citizens and visitors with historical information. Prior to serving his community as a Commissioner, Ashby served as a youth pastor at the local Boots N Saddle Cowboy Church. Also, Ashby served as the President of the Gatesville Area Student Ministry while being employed in varying teaching and volunteer positions within Gatesville ISD for over 15 years. Ashby has been married to his wife, Lani, for over 20 years. Together, Ray and Lani, have seven children, thirteen grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. The Ashby’s reside at their family ranch in Gatesville and enjoy spending time with family and friends. They volunteer at local organizations and clubs, school sponsored mentor programs, and many other endeavors throughout the communities of Coryell County.

Congratulations to Chief Eddie Wilson on being named a recipient of the 2026 Distinguished Alumni Award from Central Texas College. πŸ™ŒπŸΌπŸ’™

This morning, Dr. Michelle Carter presented Chief Wilson with the award in recognition of his outstanding leadership, professional achievement, and lifelong commitment to public service.

A proud CTC alumnus, Chief Wilson has dedicated more than 36 years to serving the City of Copperas Cove while also contributing to the advancement of law enforcement across Texas. In addition to his roles as Assistant City Manager and Chief of Police, he serves on the Board of Officers for the Texas Police Chiefs Association as the Texas Municipal League Director, helping shape policy, leadership development, and best practices for agencies throughout the state.

His impact extends far beyond our department and community through his commitment to professional excellence, employee wellness, leadership development, and public service.

The Copperas Cove Police Department is proud to celebrate this well-deserved honor and grateful for Chief Wilson’s continued leadership and dedication to making a difference both locally and across Texas.
