Dear Day 1 Bags Supporter,

There are no real words to describe the deep sorrow that impacted our community yesterday just miles away. Nineteen innocent Uvalde Texas children and two teachers lost their lives. Many of the victims are still in local hospitals. Uvalde is a tight-knit, friendly community, people know one another, and at Day 1 Bags, we have cared for them in the past and continue to care for them.

Coryell County Child Welfare Board (CCCWB) Honors Child Protective Specialists - Child Protective Services employees should be included when you think of first responders. Child welfare professionals work hard to protect children and strengthen families, often in challenging circumstances without thanks.
โ€œChild protective specialists care deeply about children, and they work around the clock to make sure kids are safe and families have the support they need,โ€ said Carly Latham, CCCWB Vice President. โ€œToo often, the work of child protective specialists is invisible or misunderstood, and we wanted to show our appreciation and to thank the people who serve as first responders for children.โ€
Gifts were given to all CPS workers from Coryell County.
(L-R) Brittany Hemenway, CPS Investigations Supervisor; Felisha Rodriguez, CPS Investigations Program Director; Carly Latham, CCCWB Vice President; Kathy Lee, CCCWC treasurer

If you paint rocks, please consider adding the Texas Abuse Hotline to the back (800-252-5400). The goal of painting rocks is to raise awareness of what to do if you suspect abuse of a child. Anyone can find the colorful and inspirational rocks, and when they turn them over, they will also see the abuse hotline. We feel like this a positive and fun way to engage our community, while spreading a very serious and important message. Please tag us or hashtag
