📢 Gates County Board of Commissioners - Public Notices & Meeting Reminder

The Gates County Board of Commissioners provides the following public notices:

Legislative Representatives & Lobbyists Update Meeting-Legislative Representatives and Lobbyists for Gates County will hear updates regarding Gates County projects in the Media Center at the Buckland Elementary School Campus beginning at 10:00 a.m on Wednesday August 26, 2026.
It is possible that a quorum of the Gates County Board of Commissioners may attend this; however, no action will be taken by the Board. This notice is provided in compliance with the North Carolina Open Meetings Law.

Special Meeting Notice-pursuant to N.C.G.S. § 153A-40, a Special Meeting of the Gates County Board of Commissioners to be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. in the Commissioners Chambers, 2nd Floor of the Historic Courthouse.
The purpose of this meeting is to discuss:
• Community/Senior Center scope of work
• GEMS relocation to the Buckland School property
• Water Supply Well projects
• Community fireworks funding proposal

Lastly, the regular scheduled meeting of the Gates County Board of Commissioners will be held at 6:00 p.m. in the Commissioners Chambers, 2nd Floor of the Historic Courthouse, Wednesday August 26, 2026.

⚠️ OUTAGE ALERT — RODUCO SUBSTATION

We are currently experiencing an outage affecting member-owners served by our Roduco substation. The interruption is due to an issue on Dominion Energy’s transmission system, which supplies power to the substation.

Dominion crews are patrolling the line to locate the cause, and a Roanoke Cooperative service technician is assisting with their efforts. At this time, an estimated restoration time is not available.

We understand the inconvenience this causes and we are doing our best to assist in the outage restoration. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

The Gates County Board of Elections formally announces the Early Voting Schedule for the 2026 General Election in November. Early Voting will be held at the Board of Elections office at 25 Medical Center Rd in Gates.

Early Voting begins Thursday, October 15, and ends on Saturday, October 31. Times for each day are 8 AM - 7:30 PM, with the exception of October 31, which will be from 8 AM - 3 PM.

Interested parties can visit the County’s website to view the current listing and find information about the bidding process.

The County uses an upset bid process for the sale of real property surplus. Interested bidders should review the requirements and procedures provided on the County website before submitting a bid.
