The Gateway-Unaweep Fire District would like to send our sincerest thanks to the Mesa County Federal Mineral Lease District for awarding $45,982.00 in grant funding to the replacement of our antiquated radio units. This generosity has allowed our district to purchase 10 new Kenwood Viking VP8000 handheld radios. The radios have a broader range of transmission, increase area of communication, and provide better interoperability and overall service for our community.

Thank you, Mesa County Federal Mineral Lease District. It was solely your support that brought this project to life!

🔥Turner Gulch Fire Smoke Outlook August 14, 2025🔥

SMOKE
With tactical firing operations mostly finished, expect reduced smoke production from Turner Gulch. However, smoke from numerous fires in the surrounding area will combine with Turner Gulch's residual smoke to produce a few hours of UNHEALTHY for SENSITIVE GROUPS (USG)especially towards Montrose.

Overall, MODERATE air quality is expected. Smoke will gradually clear during the afternoon, to be replaced by hazy skies. Gusty outflow winds from thunderstorms create erratic winds that can push smoke in any direction and impact air quality.

HEALTH STATEMENT
Smoke can be harmful to your health. Check with your doctor if there are any health concerns and monitor your local air quality conditions using the Fire and Smoke Map.
