On Wednesday, Recruit Class 2601 got the opportunity to visit St. Tammany Fire Protection District #1 and train at their Training Facility. A massive thank you goes out to the Instructors there for their hospitality and knowledge. For our recruits, being able to participate in a rollover lab with specialized props is an experience that can not be recreated elsewhere. This shows that even though this class consists of 4 different agencies, and we traveled across state lines, that this job is a brotherhood and it doesn't matter what department is on your shirt, we are 1 team.

🚩 EXTREME FIRE DANGER THIS WEEKEND 🚩

The National Weather Service has issued a Red Flag Warning for all of Mississippi this Saturday. Conditions are primed for "explosive fire growth."

The Forecast:

💨 Winds: 10–20 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.

📉 Humidity: Dropping as low as 20%.

🔥 Impact: In these dry, windy conditions, any fire that starts will spread rapidly and become difficult to control.

The safest move: Do not attempt any outdoor burning. 🚫 Whether it’s a small debris pile or a burn barrel, one gust of wind can carry an ember over a half-mile away.

Please help us protect our homes, our forests, and our first responders. Wait for conditions to improve before you light that match.

03/28/2026

⚠️ The National Weather Service has issued a Significant fire danger for most of Mississippi on Saturday (3/28/26) from 11 AM to 7 PM. Open burning should not be attempted as fires are more likely to spread in these conditions. Please follow local burn bans, secure tow chains, and dispose of ci******es properly.

🚨 Fatal Train Collision Under Investigation 🚨

At approximately 8:16 p.m. last night, Gautier Police responded to a vehicle-versus-train crash at the railroad crossing on Ladnier Rd.

Witnesses reported that the crossing arms were down and working properly, but the vehicle drove around them before colliding with an Amtrak train.

The driver, 40-year-old Tavarious Johnson, of Gautier, was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced deceased at the scene. The Amtrak train was carrying passengers—thankfully, no injuries were reported on board.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol is assisting us with crash reconstruction, and the investigation remains ongoing.

Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones affected by this tragic incident.
