It’s extremely unfortunate but the nasty Cancer has struck our department again. Recently retired Lieutenant Jeb Berry has been diagnosed with a very aggressive Adenocarcinoma cancer that has metastasized to his liver making it stage 4.

In an effort to help with medical expenses and travel we will be hosting a fish fry for lunch every Friday starting February 27th-April 3 10:30-1:30

The Jackson County Fire Protection Reserves will be hosting a boot drive across the county this Saturday, January 24th, from 8-12 to support Ryleigh! We will be set up in four locations listed below! It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of former Gautier Police Officer Sergeant Ben McQuagge, who passed away on November 26, 2025.

Sergeant McQuagge proudly served the City of Gautier with honor, dedication, and integrity. During his time with the department, he was known not only for his professionalism but for the care and respect he showed to his fellow officers and the community he served. He was the kind of officer you could depend on in any situation and the kind of person who made others better just by being around him.

His impact on the Gautier Police Department and on this community will not be forgotten. The legacy he leaves behind is one of service, loyalty, and commitment to protecting others.

We ask that you keep his family, friends, and former colleagues in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Rest easy, Sergeant.
