Otsego County Road Commission crews were recently recognized for having “0” reportable worker compensation losses in a 12-month period reflecting outstanding workplace safety. Zero workers compensation losses also mean that more of the taxpayers dollars can go directly to maintaining our roads. Congratulations to the hard working men and women of the OCRC.

Road construction work on Mancelona Road, from Old 27 to Hayes Tower Road, will start on Monday, August 10th. The work will consist of crushing the existing asphalt, reshaping the road surface and repaving with new asphalt. Final completion of the project is scheduled for September 23rd. Funds for this project will come from the county wide road millage. If traveling this road, please allow extra time for traffic delays or avoid the area and seek alternate routes if possible.

OCRC crews started the Knoch Road re-gravel project today. Please use caution if traveling in this area. This re-gravel project will improve the road surface by adding up to 8” of new Afton Stone aggregate. This type of aggregate is favored for gravel road surfaces as it is a crushed limestone aggregate with natural fine binders that packs down extremely tight, resist erosion, and hardens very well while remaining porous enough to handle weather.

This week, our crews will be working throughout the county continuing to patch potholes, mow roadsides, improve ditches and shoulders, and grade roads.
