Just like during pregnancy, eating healthy and nutrient-dense foods while breastfeeding or pumping is important! WIC offers specialized food packages for parents who are breastfeeding or combo-feeding their child up to 12 months old. 🥗🥑🍳
Your local WIC clinic may also provide breastfeeding and pumping supplies, and many parents can access free lactation support from peer counselors and International Board-Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLCs).

💙 May is Foster Care Advocacy & Awareness Month 💙

This month, we honor the children and youth who experience foster care, celebrate the dedicated foster families who open their hearts and homes, and recognize the ongoing need for more caring providers across Minnesota.

While the number of children in foster care has decreased in recent years, the need for safe, stable, and supportive homes remains urgent, especially for sibling groups and teens. Every child deserves connection, support, and a sense of belonging.

In Minnesota, approximately 5,865 children were in foster care on an average day in early 2025, with many living in Greater Minnesota communities just like ours.

Thank you to the foster families, relatives, social workers, volunteers, and community members working every day to support children and strengthen families. Your compassion changes lives.

Interested in learning more about fostering in Sibley County? Contact Foster Care Licensor Tara Sabako at 507-237-4000 or visit dcyf.mn.gov/adoption-foster-care-and-kinship-supports.

Together, we can help build brighter futures for Minnesota children. 💙

👂👀👂👀DID YOU HEAR?? 👂👀👂👀

🎣 The Minnesota DNR’s new electronic licensing system launches June 9!

The new system will allow customers to purchase hunting and fishing licenses through a mobile app, online, or in-person at a license agent. Licenses can also be carried digitally or printed.

⚠️ Hunting and fishing licenses will be temporarily unavailable for purchase June 2–8 during the transition. During this time, fishing without a license will be allowed in Minnesota, but all regulations and bag limits still apply. Fishing licenses will again be required starting June 9.

🦃 Turkey hunters must register their harvest by 11:59 p.m. on June 1, as harvest registration will be unavailable during the transition period.

📍 Beginning June 9, residents can purchase their hunting and fishing licenses in person at the Sibley County License Center.

🚤 Recreational vehicle and watercraft registrations/titles are not affected at this time.

Minnesota DNR's new electronic licensing system launches June 9! 📆

The DNR is rolling out a modern licensing system replacement that is built for today's customers and technology. Phase one of the launch in June will include the hunting and fishing modules. 🤳

The new system offers more flexibility than ever — three ways to buy a license (mobile app, online, or in-person from a license agent) and three ways to carry it (paper, PDF, or stored in the app). 📱

As part of this transition, hunting and fishing licenses will be temporarily unavailable for purchase between June 2 - 8 as we switch over to the new system. During that time, people may fish without a license in Minnesota. All regulations for the season and bag limits will remain in effect. On June 9, fishing licenses will again be required and you will be able to purchase them through the new system. 🎣

Turkey hunters need to register their harvest before end of day (11:59 pm) June 1. They will be unable to register their harvest during the transition/cutover period. 🦃

For now, nothing changes for those needing to register or title recreational vehicles and watercraft. That module of the new system will launch at a later date. 🚤

Did you know? Your baby’s skin can play a role in whether they develop a food allergy! Even before your baby is introduced to solids and new foods, they can still come into direct contact with food allergens through their skin. If this happens regularly, it may increase their chances of developing an allergy to that particular food.
Studies show that while eating an allergen early can protect your baby from that food allergy, but if that same food touches their skin regularly, it can actually raise the risk of an allergy.
So how can you do to help protect your baby’s skin? We suggest: Wash your hands after eating, especially if the food you ate is a common allergen. Then wash your hands again before touching your baby’s skin, such as during diaper changes or when putting on lotions or creams.
