⚡ Dry lightning may increase the risk of new wildfire starts across portions of Northern California and the Sierra over the next several days.

Forecasts indicate isolated thunderstorms could develop as early as Thursday, with the potential for more widespread lightning on Friday across parts of far Northern California, northeastern California, and the Sierra. Some storms may produce little rainfall, while gusty and erratic outflow winds could contribute to rapid fire spread from any new ignitions.

Residents and visitors should:
• Report smoke or fire immediately by calling 911
• Stay alert for changing weather and evacuation information
• Follow all instructions from local authorities and emergency personnel.
• Be prepared for possible power outages.
• Create or update your emergency plan and make sure everyone knows evacuation routes.

Conditions and forecasts can change quickly. Follow the National Weather Service and visit fire.ca.gov for current wildfire information.
