The Geary Fire Department recently completed an ISO Rating for our Fire District. With numerous hours by our staff, the City of Geary, the Fire Coordinator from NODA, and an ISO representative, we are proud to announce that the Insurance Rating Office has rated our district with a 4/4Y rating

. The Insurance Services Office, Inc. (ISO) evaluates fire departments throughout the United States. Based on this evaluation, they assign a rating between 1 and 10 for each department – with 1 being the best and 10 being the worst. This rating reflects the overall effectiveness of the department and helps determine the fire insurance premiums for property owners in that department’s jurisdiction. With the improvement of the ISO rating, the results are significant cost savings on homeowners insurance for every property owner within five miles of either fire station. None of this would have been possible without the hard work of numerous people, the City of Geary and its citizens, fund raisers, and the Blaine County sales tax. This has given us the opportunity to update outdated equipment, purchase tools, equipment, and a dispatch system that is more user friendly to our dispatchers, allowing them to get the department notified more efficiently. Many hours of training and work by our Volunteers add to the department receiving this rating. We appreciate all the support we have received from the citizens of Geary. Our way to give back to the citizens is by hopefully saving money on insurance premiums.
