Tonight, we were asked to assist with a flag arch for the procession of Central Berks Regional Police Department Officer Kristen Yeager, as she was taken from Reading Hospital to the funeral home.

Ladder 24 along with a few members of the Twin Valley Fire Department setup the arch with Ladder 64 (West Reading Fire Department) at Third Ave and Penn Ave in West Reading Boro.

We’re happy to share two Safe Spot Swap parking spaces are now located outside the police department's main entrance, located at 2689 Main Street, Birdsboro, PA 19508.

These spaces are available for community members who need a safer place to complete in-person exchanges, including:
• Custody exchanges
• Online marketplace purchases/sales
• Property returns
• Any other safe, public meet ups

‼️Although these spaces are not monitored 24/7, they are under constant video surveillance to help provide an added layer of safety and peace of mind.

We encourage residents to take advantage of these spaces whenever meeting someone you don’t know or when a neutral location is helpful. Your safety is always our priority!

Ladder 24 is currently setup with Ladder 64 (West Reading Fire Department) displaying a flag arch at 3rd and Penn Ave in West Reading, for the procession of Assistant 32, Robert Schick, as he’s being transported from RHMC to Lehigh Valley.

This is the unimaginable. 💔

It is with deep sorrow that we share the tragic loss of Walnuttown Fire and Rescue Fire Chief Jeff Buck and Assistant Fire Chief Rob Shick, who lost their lives in the line of duty last night.

This is a devastating loss not only for Walnuttown, but also for the Community Fire Company of Virginville. We have stood side by side, training, responding, and serving our communities together, and this loss is felt deeply by all of us.

The members of both companies ask for your support, patience, and understanding as we navigate the overwhelming emotions brought on by this tragedy.

During this time, emergency coverage will be provided by neighboring departments to ensure continued protection for our communities.
